We all know about Marshall and the EDTX and Waco and the WDTX, but don't forget about Houston and the SDTX! My partner,
Patent Litigation in the Southern District of Texas is on the Rise There can be no dispute that Texas federal district courts are a favored venue for patent litigants. In 2020, approximately 4,000 patent cases were filed in district courts throughout the country. Of those cases, more than one-third were filed in the four Texas federal districts: the Eastern, Wester...

I am honored to be selected by Intellectual Assets Magazine (IAM) to be in the IAM Strategy 300 for the sixth straight year. I greatly appreciate IAM, as well as my clients, colleagues, and friends for their support. I especially owe great thanks to my teams in China and the US for helping me create a one-of-a-kind practice. 多谢!

Why Intel's pain is AMD's gain AMD was able to beat Intel to 7-nanometer chips because of a difference in the two companies' business models.
I think this is very much a one-off based on unique facts. The case was continued many times due to Covid-19 and other reasons. Oddly, the plaintiff agreed to the continuances. This makes no sense to me, and was avoidable. The standard case in Waco should still get to trial well ahead of a PTAB final adjudication, so the “Albright Doctrine” should be very much alive. The plaintiff just needs to not agree to delay their trial date!

Engineers Found Guilty of Stealing Micron Secrets for China (Bloomberg) -- A Taiwanese court ruled Friday that current and former engineers from United Microelectronics Corp. stole trade secrets from U.S. chipmaker Micron Technology Inc. and shared them with a government-backed mainland Chinese company, closing one chapter of a global dispute that’s stoked...

Tech Companies Should Strongly Consider Monetizing Their Patent Portfolios During the Economic Downturn The COVID-19 pandemic and widespread shelter-in-place orders have hit every corner of the country’s economy, including tech companies of all sizes. Monetizing dormant patent assets—which can cost a great deal to simply maintain—may provide a solution during these difficult economic times.

My latest article at CGTN, pointing out that China is beating the US re patents:
America must look inwards for IP enforcement problems, not attack China While the so-called "land of the free" has turned into the "land of the free to steal", innovators in the U.S. and elsewhere are now properly looking to China as a refuge for IPR protection. The U.S. should face up to its own problems rather than wrongfully attacking China.
