Broken Plates is a line of glass jewelry, each cut from the surface of a hand blown plate. https://www.etsy.com/shop/BrokenPlates
My process begins by first blowing a plate in a hot shop, where I choose and apply layers of color that will serve as the canvas for these glassy wearables. The images start as drawings that are then sandblasted into the surface of the glass. Glass powders are inset into these sandblasted areas and fused to the plate in a kiln. We had so much fun working with these new cuff molds...but we will not be including them in this batch of new glass jewelry. We love them so much that we want them to be perfect. We’ll continue to work on these for a future jewelry drop.
