Kevin unpacks a hard truth in the industry with Jeff Risley: the days of leasing up one landowner and letting the project fly are over. Winning support now means showing up: the school teams, the Veterans Day parade, the county fair, and staying in the room long after the ribbon is cut.
The bigger shift? Treating landowners like what they actually are: business partners for the next 30-40 years. Do that, and they become your best advocates for explaining to the community why the project matters.
Social license isn't won once. It's maintained.

Project Vanguard will be at the Iowa State Fair on Veterans Day, August 17.
Find the Project Vanguard table in the Partnership Tent, near Gate 9 at the intersection of Logan Ave and E 31st St. Look for the tent near Thrill Town and the Iowa Craft Beer Tent.
Steve Lukan, Project Vanguard's Iowa Director, will be at the booth from 1 pm to 9 pm. Veterans and energy sector employers are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and learn how Project Vanguard connects veterans with careers in the energy industry.

Great turnout in Boston this week for the Veterans in Energy Happy Hour during the Conservative Energy Network Summit. Thanks to Conservative Energy Network for partnering with us to bring veterans across the energy industry together for a night of good conversation and connection.
Thanks to everyone who came out, whether registered for the summit or not. Moments like these are what build the community of veterans working across oil, gas, wind, solar, and storage to power the country.
Energy Security IS National Security
Carson served in the infantry and later in military intelligence with Special Forces.
His message is simple: an all-of-the-above approach to energy is not optional, it is necessary. Oil and gas, wind, solar, geothermal, every source needs to be used to its full potential. Holding back any one of them limits our ability to power homes, run businesses, and stay secure.
"You don't need to be a great speaker. You don't need bullet points. Just show up and represent veterans."

In June, Project Vanguard volunteers sat down with policymakers across North Carolina.
Even lawmakers skeptical of renewables aren't debating whether the state needs more power anymore. They're asking how to get it. Our volunteers are in those rooms, pushing the conversation toward reliability, property rights, and economic growth.
Iowa National Guard retirees are gathering August 1 for the 39th Annual Alumni Day at the Iowa National Guard Freedom Center, a day of benefits updates, training program overviews, and reconnecting with old friends.

Project Vanguard brought veterans to the North Carolina General Assembly this June. Nine policymakers met. Two voiced support for agrivoltaics. Smaller turnout created room for deeper conversations and real progress on reliability and affordability.
