🍔 Oops all mushroom burger (51 of 51) 🍄

Swiss. Mushrooms don't have much of a smell, but the scent of Swiss is strong with this one! The heat rising off the ground beef and cheese wafts up a familiar scent.

Appearance: the stuffed portobello mushroom contains beef patty and cheese Chopped together with a melted layer of swiss. The sauce on top itself is a mushroom sauce consisting of white, portobello, baby bello and sh*tatke in a cherry wine all cooked together to make a sauce.

First bite: for a good who absolutely hates mushrooms, my first bite was not terrible, it had a heavy Swiss flavor. As I chewed I could taste the other cheese used in the burger. Surprisingly, mushrooms are pretty bland and absorb the flavor of other ingredients, so they weren't too noticeable at first. If anything it felt like I had extra cheesy meat.

Continuing eating: As I continued to eat. I was able to notice the mushrooms via texture. The burger was delicious, but the texture was definitely a hurdle for me to overcome. I was eventually able to defeat the last burger of the year due to the help of hot sauce! What a great invention, but also a form of cheating according to the rules of Tom Eats, so I shamefully admit to it, sorry.

After eating: I'm definitely full, in particularly mushrooms... but it was a decent burger and opened my eyes to try mushrooms again maybe. The cheese certainly helped. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to try this burger again, but if a similar burger of the week popped up I would eat it.

Final score: I am going to give this burger a truthfully unbiased score. Plus points for being filling and delicious, minus points for being a bit sloppy and the texture of mushrooms and lack of flavor. The final score is 5.5/10, and the reasoning behind it is that is was way better than I anticipated and I did enjoy it, it had flaws but nothing too serious, I would recommend this to mushroom lovers and I would say to non mushroom lovers, maybe try a bite of a friend's! Happy New Year and thank you for keeping up with Tom Eats! Be safe folks!

🍔 steak and gorg burger 🍔
(50 of 51*) * I miscounted the amount of Wednesdays

Steak and Gorg burger (50 of 51*)

Smell: this burger had a warm cheesy scent to it, must be the gorganzola and swiss!

Appearance:This burger weilds a glistening brioche bun, a merry mix of cheese oozes from the sides. Everything sits on a bed of braised spinach and sautéed onions! Hidden in there is one of Sam's famous steak tips!

First bite: this first bite was an explosion of cheesy flavor! This is a heavier burger with a good amount of drip, so bring some napkins!

Continuing eating: as I continued to eat this burger, I dug into the sautéed onions and braised spinach which are always a great touch, and a good brioche bun never disappoints!

After eating: the cheese has the heaviest flavor next to the sautéed onions, which is a good thing! The steak tips are a fabulous treat, just make sure you remember they're in there when chewing! One negative I will say is that the bottom bun had trouble holding up due to the juices!

Final score: this burger comes in at a 7.9/10 knocking the chicken parmesan burger down a notch. Despite unique ingredients and an awesome bun, the overall burger was heavy and lacked bottom bun support. It's flavor profile pulled through but the burger was a bit challenging to finish.

Folks, I'd like everyone to watch this video to the end for a special outcome, PJs is rising money along with the Marlborough Eagles for Chris Shelton and his battle against cancer. Chris is one of the originators of the burger of the week and without him doing it a year ago, there would be no Tom Eats. Ontop of all that, he is a stand up guy, a father, and he served our country. Of you can find it in your hearts to donate one way or another, every bit helps. Thank you and merry Christmas

Samwise's Cubano (49 of 50)

Smell: bacon, dijonaise and pickle instantly flood my nostrils with a super strong kick. This burger smells super appetizing and I'm excited to bite into it.

Appearance: this is a pressed burger held up by toothpicks. Bacon are covered in dijonaise like trees after a snow fall. I can see the gouda, which is a local hudson product!, rest on the patties.

First bite: the first bite was exciting as the smell. Each bite was captivating afterwards. The bursts of flavor were strong and satisfying.

Continuing eating: as I continued to eat this burger I found myself unable to put it down, it was just bite after bite. I didn't noticed the pork páté as much as the other ingredients, maybe because I've never had it before, but the other flavors were so strong I can see another flavor easily being blanketed. The Smashed patties and pressed bun had a texture that worked so well together. The gouda played a major part as well and was a unique cheese that we did not see a lot of this year.

After eating: After eating I found myself satisfied but not feeling heavy and groggy. This burger has great balance.

Final score: it might seem like a surprising call this late into the year, but in my honest opinion I feel like this burger comes in at a strong 9.6/10. The uniqueness, flavor profiles, unique ingredients, and overall feeling after eating come into play with this rating. Some might argue my decision as other burgers seemed to have been major players this year, but it's my honest opinion come in and make your own!

🍔 Burger au poivre (48 of 50) 🍔
PJ's Pub Narragansett Beer
Smell: this burger has little to no unique scent but is still very appetizing looking.

Appearance: this is a unique looking burger, a French roll bun gives cold cut vibes. Cognac mornay sauce dribbling off of it. Provolone cheese hanging around. A bed of butter lettuce. This burger looks like a great bite!

First bite: my first bite I had to deal with the new bread, it bit great and had the perfect amount of chew to it. Next I noticed the amount of cheese and cognac sauces. A very good good to start on.

Continuing eating: as I continued to eat, I appreciated the pepper crusted patty more and more as my molars released those flavors. The butter lettuce and bacon were both perfect additions to this burger. The butter lettuce was a new ingredient for me, I wish I had a bit more experience but that fact does not negatively affect this review.

After eating: After eating I get a pleasant after taste of creamy pepper. Overall a great bite, super unique. Not a super strong flavor that catches attention, but texture, appearance and it's subtle flavors pull this burger through.

Final score: 8.1/10

If you saw last night's video, you'd know my vehicle is getting some tire repairs. Well I didn't feel like waiting there so I walked across the street to Chill Kitchen and Bar to grab a gansett and a quick bite! I will definitely be coming back to review some of their burgers! Have any of you guys swung by here?

🍔 The Italian red rocket burger (47 of 50) 🍔
PJ's Pub Narragansett Beer
Smell: the whiffs of spice waft off this burger. I feel like I'm smelling the fried capocolla. The sun dried tomato aoli definitely has some zest to it that I'm smelling.

Appearance: this is a pretty burger. It's definitely loaded. Arugula forms a nice nest for the patty. Creamy orange sun dried tomato aoli drips down. Fried mozzarella sits pleasantly. Fried capocolla rests nicely under the top bun.

First bite: a good first bite, definitely loaded on flavor. The fried mozzarella was pretty strong. The fried capocolla gave off the perfect hint of heat. Thesun dried tomato aoli was good but I need to take more bites to get a better sense of its flavor. Arugula.

Continuing eating: as I continued to eat, the sun dried aoli had some zest to it, it was refreshing, and not a truly strong flavor, a bit of spiciness afterwards. The capocolla has stronger flavors, it's hint of spice and slight smokey flavor comes in strong.

After eating: overall a hearty burger that's warming in these colder winter days. I liked it, it was unique, creative and a good eat overall. I didn't hate the aoli by any means but I thought it'd tickle my fancy a bit more.

Final score: 8.2/10
