Holistic Nurse Coach đ§ââď¸ Transforming âI shouldâ into a lifestyle that supports your body & mind
Walking through my hometown of Freiburg today feels a little surreal.
More than 20 years ago, I left for the U.S. as an au pair because I wanted to learn English. That was it. I wasnât trying to change my lifeâI just wanted to speak another language.
Looking back, that one decision changed everything.
As I walk these familiar streets, I canât help but wonder what my life would look like if I had stayed. Itâs strange to think how one small choice can send your life in a completely different direction.
It reminds me of how I think about health.
We often believe we need one big moment to transform our lives. But more often, itâs the small, ordinary choices that shape who we become. A daily walk. Cooking at home. Going to bed a little earlier. Taking a few deep breaths instead of pushing through.
They donât seem like much at the time.
But neither did getting on a plane to America over 20 years ago.
Small choices matter. You never know which one will quietly change the direction of your life. â¤ď¸

Wonderful hike in the Black Forest- home sweet home
You are the director, writer, CEO, editor, producer, and author of your life.
And sometimes we forget that.
We move through our days reactingâresponding to everyone elseâs needs, schedules, expectationsâuntil life starts to feel like something happening to us instead of something weâre actively creating.
But there are moments that bring you back.
Like being in water.
Laughing.
Moving freely.
Remembering that youâre allowed to feel good inside your own life.
This is what I love about yoga and coachingânot because they add one more thing to do, but because they help us come back to the awareness that we get to choose how we move through our days.
Not perfectly.
Not always calmly.
But consciously.
You donât have to rewrite your whole life today.
But you can choose one small way to show up like the author of it.
⨠Whatâs one choice you could make today that feels like yours?
As caregivers, weâre often taught that self-care is something we earn after everyone else is taken care of.
But what if thatâs the wrong model?
Yesterday I had the privilege of teaching a Yoga for Grown-Ups class where kids were welcome. Watching parents move, breathe, and reconnect with themselves while their children were part of the experience was a powerful reminder:
Self-care doesnât always require perfect silence or complete separation from the people you love.
Sometimes it simply requires permission to prioritize your own well-being, even while your children, aging parents, or others you care for are nearby.
You deserve moments that fill your cup, too.
What would change if you stopped waiting for the perfect time to take care of yourself?

Mindfulness is actively noticing things about the things we think we already know.
We often think we know our bodies.
âI know Iâm tired.â
âI know what healthy eating looks like.â
âI know I should exercise.â
But do we really notice whatâs happening?
In my coaching, one of the biggest shifts happens when women stop trying to control their bodies and start listening to them.
⨠How does this meal actually make me feel?
⨠Am I truly hungry, or am I overwhelmed?
⨠What does my body need todayâmovement, rest, nourishment, or a deep breath?
When you slow down and pay attention without judgment, your body becomes one of your greatest sources of wisdom.
Health isnât just about following the ârightâ plan. Itâs about building a relationship with yourselfâone where you trust your body instead of constantly fighting it.
Mindfulness is where that relationship begins.
đ Whatâs one thing your body has been trying to tell you lately?

Why do you want a healthy lifestyle?
Is it to have a bikini body?
To feel pretty?
To finally feel comfortable in your own skin?
To have more energy?
To keep up with your kids and be strong enough to play with them?
Thereâs no right or wrong answer.
For me, health has become about so much more than a number on the scale or how I look in the mirror.
I want to enjoy life to the fullest.
I want the energy to be present for the moments that matter, the strength to say yes to adventures, and the health to support the life I want to live.
Most of all, I want to show up as the best version of myself for my daughterânot just today, but for years to come.
Because a healthy lifestyle isnât just about adding years to your life. Itâs about adding life to your years.

Last December, my cholesterol came back higher than I was comfortable with, and my doctor recommended a statin.
Before deciding what my next step would be, I wanted to better understand what was contributing to my numbers and what changes I could realistically make.
So instead of panicking, I got curious.
Over the next four months, I lowered my total cholesterol by 40 pointsânot through perfection, but by making small, intentional changes that I could actually stick with.
The process I followed is the same one I now use with my coaching clients:
đ Gather â I collected information before making changes. I kept a food journal, looked at my habits, and paid attention to patterns.
đ Prioritize â Instead of trying to change everything at once, I focused on the few things that would have the biggest impact and felt realistic for my life.
đ Schedule â I turned those priorities into small daily habits and routines that were easy to follow and maintain.
I call this my GPS Method: Gather, Prioritize, Schedule.
Because sustainable health changes arenât about willpower. Theyâre about having a clear direction and taking consistent action.
This Wednesdayâs newsletter will break down exactly what I changed, what surprised me, and the lessons I learned along the way.

During our last Walking Into Clarity walk, one of the questions I invited everyone to reflect on was:
What lights you up?
The answers that surfaced included adventure, connection, and community.
For me, itâs painting. đ¨
I donât have hours to dedicate to it anymore, but Iâve learned that it doesnât have to be all or nothing. Most days, I can find 15â20 minutes to paint, create, and reconnect with this part of myself.
Those small moments matter. They remind me who I am beyond my responsibilities and help me feel more energized, present, and alive.
Now Iâm curious:
What lights you up, and how are you making space for it in your life?

You donât reach your goals by trying to do everything at once.
You reach them by getting clear on what matters mostâand then taking one small step at a time.
The problem is that most of us are carrying around a long list of goals, recommendations, and things we think we should be doing. No wonder it feels overwhelming.
Inside the Confident Health GPS Intensive, we gather all those goals, recommendations, and shoulds in one place. Then we prioritize what will make the biggest impact and create simple habits that actually fit your real life.
Because lasting change doesnât come from doing moreâit comes from knowing where to focus.

I get asked all the time how I manage to get up at 5 AM.
The truth? Itâs not because Iâm excited to work out, answer emails, or tackle my to-do list.
What gets me out of bed is something much simpler: a hot cup of coffee (or tea) enjoyed in peace and quiet before the rest of the house wakes up. âď¸
Iâve learned that if you want to build a habit, it helps to connect it to something you genuinely enjoyânot just the task youâre âsupposedâ to do.
That little pocket of calm gives me the energy and mindset to take care of everything else that comes later.
