Equality Indiana is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with the purpose of securing nondiscrimination, equality, and legal protections for every LGBTQIA+ Hoosier. Equality Indiana mission statement: Our mission is to engage and mobilize LGBTQ Hoosiers and their allies to secure comprehensive and inclusive nondiscrimination, equality, and related legal protections for all LGBTQ Hoosiers through democratic processes. Our vision is to build coalitions throughout Indiana by collaborating with federal, state, and local partners, public officials, business and religious leaders, and community activists to grow grassroots’ energies and build support for momentum to achieve equality and related protections in every community through local ordinances, state-wide legislation, or through the courts.

🏥 Healthcare is part of economic security.

When a Hoosier can't afford healthcare, the impact doesn't stop with one person. Families face difficult choices, workers may struggle to stay healthy and productive, and businesses feel the consequences of an unhealthy workforce.

Equality Indiana supports affordable, accessible, culturally competent healthcare for all Hoosiers, including transgender and LGBTQIA+ Hoosiers.

Access to quality healthcare should not depend on who you are, who you love, or whether you can afford to pay for care out of pocket.

HEALTHY WORKERS. HEALTHY FAMILIES. STRONGER INDIANA.

Healthcare is one part of Equality Indiana's broader Economic Justice Legislative Initiatives—our vision for a stronger, more welcoming Indiana.

💰 A FAIR DAY'S WORK SHOULD PROVIDE A FAIR LIVING.

Working Hoosiers shouldn't have to work full-time and still struggle to afford the basics.

A living wage means having the ability to afford:
🏠 Housing
🍎 Food
🚗 Transportation
❤️ Healthcare
💰 A secure future

Equality Indiana supports raising Indiana's minimum wage to a living wage that reflects the real cost of living.

Economic security isn't just good for workers. It strengthens families, communities, and Indiana's economy.

When we value workers, we build a stronger Indiana for everyone.

STRONG WORKERS. STRONG COMMUNITIES. STRONG INDIANA.

This Labor Day, let's talk about what makes Indiana stronger.

A better Indiana starts with workers.

Every Hoosier deserves the opportunity to earn a living, afford a safe home, care for their family, access healthcare, and build a secure future.

That's why Equality Indiana is advocating for Economic Justice Legislative Initiatives that can strengthen Indiana's workforce and improve quality of life for workers, families, businesses, and communities.

Our agenda includes:
💼 Living wages for all workers
🏠 Affordable housing access
👶 Affordable child care
❤️ Paid family & medical leave
🏥 Affordable, accessible healthcare
🏪 Support for small businesses & nonprofits
🚌 Affordable & inclusive infrastructure and utilities

These aren't just LGBTQIA+ issues. They're Hoosier issues.
And when Indiana creates conditions where workers can thrive, businesses can grow, and families can build a future, all of Indiana benefits.

ECONOMIC JUSTICE = A STRONGER INDIANA.

🏠 YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN RENT AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

A strong workforce needs a place to live. When housing costs consume too much of a family's income, it becomes harder to afford food, transportation, healthcare, and the other necessities of everyday life.

Equality Indiana supports expanding access to safe, affordable housing and strengthening tenant protections for Hoosiers—including LGBTQIA+ people who are disproportionately affected by housing instability and homelessness.

Stable housing isn't just about having a roof over your head. It's about creating stability for workers, families, businesses, and communities.

STABLE HOUSING BUILDS STRONGER COMMUNITIES.
