Native Pride Productions

Did you know?

Indigenous Peoples' Day started at a United Nations conference in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1977. Indigenous delegates from across the Americas proposed making October 12, the date Columbus landed, a day of solidarity with Indigenous peoples instead of a celebration of "discovery."

It took another 13 years for a U.S. state to act on it. South Dakota renamed the day Native American Day in 1990. Two years later, Berkeley, California became the first city to call it Indigenous Peoples' Day.

More facts coming before Monday. Follow along.

Today's the day. Native Pride Productions is at Inn of the Mountain Gods for the Women's Wellness Gathering, and we'd love to see you there.

On-site registration opens at 7:30, breakfast is on, and the day runs until 4:00. If you've been holding onto a pair of earrings for a special occasion, the Biggest Auntie Earrings contest is that occasion.

Come find us and say hello.
