Important news for our youth. May this bill help protect them from adult perpetration and harm.
🌐 It's Website Wednesday!
***UPDATE: House Bill 239 passed, which means the age of consent is changing from 16 to 18. This goes into effect on July 1, so more information will be available soon.***
Understanding consent laws helps keep our communities informed and safe. In Alaska, the age of consent is 16, but the law includes important nuances, like protections around power dynamics (such as relationships involving authority) and close-in-age exemptions for teens.
Our resource breaks down what this means in clear, accessible language so youth, parents, and community members can better understand their rights and responsibilities.

Help us stay cool (not "cool" as in hip, but cool as in a comfortable body temp! ☀️)
With the recent beautiful weather comes a lot of sun, and the heat—especially in our second-floor spaces—has built up.
We are in urgent need of portable fans. Gently used, in good condition, are perfectly fine!
We also need laundry detergent - unused liquid (no pods) please.
How to drop off:
📍 Bring them to 1547 Glacier Hwy
🌐 Or support us online at www.awareak.org
Thank you so much for considering! Have a wonderful week ahead.
