Today, my bill on battery storage bill passed on second. At a time of increasingly dangerous winter events and surging demands for energy for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, my legislation would help keep our lights on and our electric bills affordable.

I couldn’t be prouder and more honored to stand beside Dan and Lauren Murphy after hearing the story about their son, Decker. Decker’s a 9-year-old boy living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disease that impacts the way your body heals and reproduces muscles. It’s rather debilitating and we need more funding and research into this rare disease. For more information about Decker’s story and how you can help, please visit www.Deckersblueprint.org. YES! Legislation to cover preventative menopause-related healthcare will save millions of $$ on crises related to menopause. Kudos to my colleague Rep.Melissa Shusterman for such relevant and impactful legislation that passed the PA House yesterday🌟 Come on, PA Senate. We’re counting on you to follow through. Call your senator!

Thankful for The United Way of PA and PA 211 rolling out Connect-PA, a hub of information about broadband internet access and technological know-how:

https://www.connect-pa.org

Melody Zimmerman, Bhavi Punjala, and Kristen Rotz (United Way of PA), Dr. Zachary Adams (Center for Rural PA), and Kate Rivera (KIC) fully recognize the need, not only for access to the internet, but for affordability and understanding of how to use technology. Education, job training, healthcare, and connection to many digital resources could be at many more Pennsylvanians’ fingertips.

🐟Living here in Lancaster in the Chesapeake Bay watershed drives home the notion of being a good neighbor - clean streams and rivers in PA directly impact clean water in the Chesapeake, where many live, work, and play, and where a multitude of species live and thrive in its waters and along its shores. Recently, the Chesapeake Bay Commission (elected officials from PA, MD, VA that collaborate on Bay policies) visited Tangier Island, thanks to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, to learn about the impact that people and climate change have on the Bay. I was amazed by many aspects: how shallow much of the Bay is, the variety of species in the Bay (including squid!), the history of the very small population of people that live on Tangier Island and how remote it is, the dialect of English spoken there (‼️), and much more. BONUS: VA Gov. Abigail Spanberger joined us at the local museum and for dinner, and meeting Tangier Island Mayor James “Ooker” Eskridge, a lifelong crabber on the island. Also met two women who happened to be looking over my shoulder as I perused the 1986 high school yearbook in the museum - they were pictured on the page I was looking at! Moral of this story - care for and preserve our planet’s natural resources. We’re all neighbors🌅
