🔥 MONDAY LIFE SAFETY MINUTE 🔥
Planning to fire up the grill this Labor Day? A few simple precautions can help prevent fires and serious burns:
✅ Use propane and charcoal grills outdoors only
✅ Keep the grill well away from your home, deck railings, eaves, and branches
✅ Maintain a three-foot safety zone for children and pets
✅ Never leave a lit grill unattended
✅ Allow hot coals to cool completely before placing them in a metal container
Today’s simple action: Before lighting the grill, remove grease buildup and check the propane hose and connections for damage or leaks.
Enjoy the holiday—and make safety part of the cookout!

💊 MONDAY LIFE SAFETY MINUTE 💊
Naloxone can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose and restore breathing—but only if someone takes action.
Know the warning signs:
• The person cannot be awakened
• Breathing is slow, irregular, or stopped
• Lips or fingertips appear blue, gray, or pale
If you suspect an overdose:
✅ Give naloxone if available
✅ Call 911 immediately
✅ If normal breathing does not return, give another dose after 2–3 minutes
✅ Stay with the person until help arrives
Today’s simple action: Check your naloxone’s expiration date, make sure it is easy to reach, and show someone else where you keep it.
Prepare to Act • Ready to Save
Guidance reviewed against current CDC naloxone recommendations.

Life safety is about more than CPR, AEDs, and Stop the Bleed. It starts at home. 🏠❤️
At Keystone Life Safety Initiative, we’re passionate about teaching lifesaving skills like CPR/AED awareness and bleeding control, but our mission goes beyond that. Life safety also means being prepared for the everyday emergencies that can happen right in your kitchen, pantry, yard, or living room.
Think about the simple things that can make a big difference:
🩹 A well-stocked first aid kit for kitchen accidents, cuts, scrapes, and everyday injuries
🔥 A fire blanket for small stove or cooking fires
🧯 A fire extinguisher that is easy to access and everyone in the home knows how to use
🚨 Working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
🫁 Choking preparedness, including knowing proper first aid techniques
🟡 A LifeVac, which is now FDA-authorized as a second-line anti-choking device for adults and children age 1 and older, after standard choking rescue measures have been attempted without success
Preparedness doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it starts with simply asking:
What’s in your pantry, kitchen, or home that could help save a life in an emergency?
At Keystone Life Safety Initiative, we believe in helping individuals and families become safer, more prepared, and more confident in an emergency.
Educate • Equip • Empower
Because life safety doesn’t stop when the class ends — it continues at home.
What life safety items do you keep in your home?

❤️🩹 SAVE A LIFE NIGHT — COMMUNITY MEMBERS PREPARING TO ACT! 🚑
What a great night of learning, practicing, and preparing to act when it matters most!
Tonight, Keystone Life Safety Initiative hosted another Save a Life Night at Hope Community Church, giving members of our community the opportunity to learn and practice lifesaving skills in a relaxed, hands-on environment.
Participants worked through:
❤️ Hands-Only CPR
⚡ AED Awareness
🩸 Stop the Bleed / Severe Bleeding Control
🩹 Wound Packing & Tourniquet Application
💊 Overdose & Naloxone Awareness
🚑 Practical discussion about recognizing an emergency, calling for help, and taking action until professional responders arrive
One of the biggest goals of Keystone Life Safety Initiative is to help take the fear and uncertainty out of stepping forward during an emergency.
You don’t have to be an EMT, firefighter, nurse, or paramedic to make a difference.
Sometimes the most important person in an emergency is simply the person who is already there and is willing to act.
It was great seeing people of different ages and backgrounds get on the floor, practice CPR, learn bleeding-control techniques, ask questions, laugh a little, and leave more prepared than when they walked through the door.
A huge thank you to Hope Community Church for providing the space, and especially to everyone who chose to spend their evening learning skills that could someday save the life of a family member, friend, coworker, or complete stranger.
We also want to give a special shout-out to some new faces who stepped up to assist as instructor aides — Tami, Ann, and Spencer. Having additional knowledgeable hands available makes a huge difference during the hands-on portions of these classes, and we greatly appreciate each of you jumping in and helping make the night a success!

❤️ MONDAY LIFE SAFETY MINUTE ❤️
If a teen or adult suddenly collapses, is unresponsive, and is not breathing normally:
📞 Call 911 and send someone for an AED
👐 Push hard and fast in the center of the chest
🎵 Aim for 100–120 compressions per minute
⚡ Use the AED as soon as it arrives and follow its instructions
You do not need to be a healthcare professional to begin Hands-Only CPR. Taking action immediately can help keep blood flowing until professional responders arrive.

🟢 MONDAY LIFE SAFETY MINUTE 🟢
Preparedness starts with one small step.
Take five minutes today to check your home, vehicle, or workplace first-aid kit. Make sure supplies are present, easy to reach, and not expired. Everyone who may need the kit should know where it is kept.
A well-stocked kit is only helpful when you can find it—and know how to use it.
What is one item you always keep in your first-aid kit? Let us know in the comments!
