Well... we definitely found the reasons we struggled so badly last night. π
On lap 2, we took a hard shot to the right front, which was followed by contact to the left front. As I was trying to adjust my line, we got tagged in the right rear, cutting the tire.
Once we got the car back to the shop, the full story became clear:
π§ The impact caused the weld on the right front shock mount to fail, making the shock far less effective.
π§ The left front inner tie rod was bent, putting the toe WAY out of alignment.
π§ To top it all off, we were also fighting a right rear tire that was slowly losing air.
It was definitely frustrating knowing we never really got the opportunity to race our race without battling damage. That's racing, though. It was just one of those hard racing deals, and we aren't pointing fingers at anyone.
The good news? The team has already been hard at work. The right front is back together, and we've got a parts order headed to Race Car Bodies by Dailey so we can get the 17J ready for another shot.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us through the highs and the lows. We'll keep working, keep learning, and keep coming back stronger.
We'll see you all Friday night at Limaland! πͺπ

What a roller coaster of a night.
We qualified 10th, which put us on the pole of Heat Race #1. The team gave me an incredible car, and we were able to pick up the heat race win by over a second.
Unfortunately, the feature didn't go the way we hoped. The invert had us starting 6th, and we were setting up a pass on the car in front of us. As another car got underneath, I moved to the top, and our right rear made contact with another car. I could immediately tell something wasn't right, but I wasn't sure exactly what had happened.
I tried hanging on, but with just a few laps to go, the right rear finally let go. It tore our car up and collected a few others in the process. I did my best to wave the oncoming cars off, but I don't think they were able to see me in time.
Racing can be incredibly rewarding, and it can be absolutely heartbreakingβall in the same night. That's just part of the sport we love.
We'll get the 17J back in the shop, put in the work, and come back stronger than ever. Thank you to our crew, sponsors, family, and every fan who continues to stand behind us through the highs and the lows. Your support means more than you know.
We'll be back. πͺπ
