Education Is the Light That Turns Fear into Opportunity
When I was a little boy, I lived in an old apartment building with a huge basement. I was always afraid to go down there—not because I believed there were monsters, but because of the darkness.
As the years passed, I realized that what frightened me wasn’t the basement itself. It was the unknown hidden within the darkness.
For thousands of years, people have feared the unknown. Darkness symbolizes uncertainty because black is not actually a color—it is the absence of light. When we cannot see clearly, our imagination fills the empty space with possibilities, often far worse than reality.
The same is true in life, business, and technology.
We are often hesitant to embrace new ideas, technologies, or opportunities—not because they are dangerous, but because we don’t yet understand them.
Fear is often born from uncertainty, not from facts.
Throughout my career, I have seen this happen time and time again. Today, I see it with KNX—a worldwide open standard for home and building automation that has been proven for more than 35 years. Many people are not resistant to the technology itself; they are simply unfamiliar with it.
