Illinois has watched too many major employers leave our state in recent years. Caterpillar, Boeing, Citadel...the list goes on and on. In 2023 alone, Illinois saw a net loss of 218 businesses to other states. Now, the Chicago Bears are looking across state lines.

When major employers and organizations decide their future is somewhere other than Illinois, it's a sign that something needs to change.

Illinois families deserve an economy that attracts investment, creates jobs, and gives businesses a reason to stay.

Today, Governor Pritzker signed the largest budget in Illinois history into law.

At nearly $56 billion, this budget continues a pattern of higher spending, more taxes and fees, and little relief for hardworking families already struggling with the rising cost of living. Instead of addressing the affordability crisis, this budget includes nearly $800 million in new taxes and fees while state spending has grown dramatically over the last several years.

Adding insult to injury, the budget also sets aside approximately $410 million for programs and services benefiting illegal immigrants, including $110 million for healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants over the age of 65. While Illinois families face higher costs and increasing financial pressure, Governor Pritzker and legislative Democrats continue prioritizing spending on illegal immigrants over providing relief for the hardworking taxpayers who fund state government.

Illinois families deserve a government that lives within its means, prioritizes public safety, and delivers meaningful property tax relief. Unfortunately, this budget falls short. I voted NO because I believe taxpayers deserve better than bigger government, higher costs, and more of the same policies that continue to drive families and businesses out of our state.

We can do better for Illinois, and I will continue fighting for responsible spending, lower taxes, and policies that put Illinois families first!

Businesses across Illinois are feeling the strain of rising costs, burdensome regulations, and policies that make it harder to grow and create jobs. Our small businesses are the backbone of local communities, yet too many are being forced to do more with less.

If we want Illinois to remain competitive and provide opportunity for families, workers, and entrepreneurs, we need policies that lower costs, encourage investment, and make our state more affordable for everyone.

Prescription drug costs have gotten out of control, and Illinois families are paying the price.

That's why I was proud to co-sponsor the Prescription Drug Affordability Act, which took effect on January 1. This law cracks down on pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and brings greater accountability to a system that has driven up costs for patients while putting independent pharmacies at risk.

The law bans PBMs from steering patients to pharmacies they own, ends unfair pricing practices that hurt local drugstores, increases transparency, and helps ensure rebates are returned to health plans instead of corporate middlemen. It also creates support for rural and underserved pharmacies so they can continue serving their communities.

Families deserve affordable medications and seniors deserve access to the prescriptions they rely on.

I'll continue supporting policies that put patients first and help make healthcare more affordable for Illinois families.
