This was a rescue story for the ages. A good human spotted a mama cat jump into a sewer drain at the off ramp of LAX. When she got out to check it out, this is what she saw. Four precious babies staring back at her.

After two nights of trapping in the underground of LA, CaltransHQ shutting down the entire highway off ramp, and four kittens and a mama later, this little family is safe. To think for 5 weeks these guys never experienced food, real sunlight, or anything cozier than a cement sewer drain. They were one rainfall away from not making it.

Well, fast forward a couple weeks, and Pixel and Pickles are available for adoption! These two boys are incredibly bonded and we would like to keep them together. They are silly and sweet boys with great personalities. At only 7 weeks, they will be delivered neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea treated, and dewormed.

Who wants to give these two the forever ending of the happy sorry they deserve?!

🖤 Charcoal’s New Beginning 🖤

When we head out for TNR, we never know who will walk into our traps. Some community cats have known the kindness of human feeders, while others have spent their lives avoiding people or have sadly only known cruelty.

And then there are cats like Charcoal. 🐈‍⬛

Charcoal turned out to be one of the friendly boys. Without another option, he would have been neutered and returned to the streets.

Then the perfect opportunity came along. ❤️ A kind woman was looking for a cat to share her large backyard and property, and we decided to give Charcoal a chance at a different kind of life.

For several weeks, Charcoal was safely crated in a shaded area of her yard with food, water, a litter box and shelter. This acclimation period helped him learn that this is his new home and where safety and meals can always be found.

Today was the big day: Charcoal was released to roam! 🥹🖤 Our hope is that he’ll explore his new territory and return each day and night for meals and companionship.

Barn and yard homes can be a wonderful alternative for friendly or semi-social TNR cats who may not fully acclimate to indoor life but deserve something safer than the streets.

Not every rescue story ends with a cat curled up on a couch. Sometimes a happy ending is a big backyard, a dedicated caretaker and a safe place to finally call home. 🐾🖤

ADOPT HENRY 🩶

Last week we posted Milo, the longest cat residing at our rescue. The internet did its thing and MILO GOT ADOPTED!!! Now it’s time for our SECOND longest resident, Henry, to find his happy ending.

Henry, aka Henry Boo Boo, is our resident love boat, certified chunky hippo, and a 3 year old ball of love… We really think it’s time for his person to find him.

Henry spent much of his life outside, so he can be shy when he first meets new people (see last video for evidence). He was living outside in Marina Del Rey for months, alone and starving… now indoors, once he determines that you’re trustworthy and reasonably talented at petting, it’s over. You now have a chunky gray shadow who would like to know why your hands aren’t currently on him.

His foster mom is required to provide approximately 20 minutes of dedicated morning pets, after which Henry reports to his personal perch beside her desk to supervise the workday and request additional affection as needed. Henry determines when it is needed.

And Henry LOVES other cats. He warms up to friendly cats and kittens incredibly quickly, and they help him feel safe and confident. His perfect home would have a friendly feline buddy waiting for him.

He has the tiniest little meow, makes the most ridiculous faces, knows his name, comes running for food and pets, and has perfected the physique of a man who has fully embraced indoor only living. Henry has watched so many of his rescue friends find their families while he waits for his. We are hoping this post reaches the right family 🥺🩷🦛

Meet Maple! 🍁🐾

Maple was saved at the very end of the day from a high-kill shelter, and we’re so thankful she made it out because this little girl is nothing but a ball of love. ❤️

Maple loves her kicky toys, snuggling with her people, and her favorite move is rolling right onto her back so you can play with her using your fingers—or pretty much any toy you offer! She has just the tiniest bit of sass to keep things entertaining, but underneath it all, Maple is pure sweetness.

This darling black-and-white girl is playful, affectionate, silly, and ready to trade her shelter days for a forever home filled with love. 🍁💕 ❤️

✨ Meet Poppy! ✨

Poppy is the queen of fluff 👑🐾 This gorgeous long-haired black and white girl is as loving as she is adorable. She’s extra talkative, full of personality, and always has something to say! 💕

Poppy absolutely LOVES giving affection and being close to her people. And unlike most cats, this little adventurer even loves car rides! 🚗🐱 She’s happy to come along for the journey—as long as she gets plenty of love along the way.

Meet Callie! 💕

Callie is a very playful and energetic little firecracker who loves being around people and always wants to be part of whatever you’re doing. She has tons of kitten energy and can turn just about anything into a game!

Callie has been introduced to both the cat and dog in her foster home, and she thinks they’re the best thing ever! She just wants to play with them all day and would love a home with a furry friend who can keep up with her playful personality. 🐾

Work from home? Callie would be thrilled to be your official office assistant! 💻🐱 She’ll happily “help” you work on your laptop, supervise your emails, and make sure you’re never working alone.

This beautiful 4-month-old girl was found by a good samaritan running around downtown El Segundo lost and afraid. When the person approached her with food, all she wanted was love and jumped right into her lap 😭

Even though she was dumped, she hasn’t let that change her incredibly sweet personality. Misty is what we like to call a “cat-dog” — she’s loyal, smart, affectionate, and completely devoted to her people. Her favorite place is wherever you are, whether that’s curled up in your lap or snuggled right beside you. She truly just wants to be close and loved.
