One man’s vision transformed an abandoned island into a thriving wildlife sanctuary. 🌿🐢

In 1962, Brendon Grimshaw purchased the small, neglected island of Moyenne in the Seychelles for around £8,000. Rather than developing it, he devoted the next four decades to restoring its natural beauty.

Working alongside a local companion, René Lafortune, he planted more than 16,000 trees, created nearly 5 kilometers of walking trails, and helped establish a safe habitat for over 100 giant Aldabra tortoises.

As the island’s ecological value grew, Grimshaw reportedly turned down a $50 million offer from developers who wanted to build a luxury resort. Instead of selling, he chose to protect the island for future generations.

His dedication paid off in 2008 when the Seychelles government declared Moyenne Island a national park, ensuring it would remain a protected haven for wildlife.

Brendon Grimshaw’s story is a powerful reminder that lasting impact isn’t always measured by wealth. Sometimes, preserving nature can become the greatest legacy of all.

Wow I had no idea these existed in 43 states. This will be the largest at least in the US. Apparently Croatia has a couple that are even larger than this one that is still under construction in LA. There will be a ramp built so the animals can cross over. This is an area where hundreds if not thousands of animals have died trying trying to cross the road and it was built primarily to save the Santa Monica Mountain Lions bc I believe their numbers were extremely low.

A major wildlife crossing is almost ready for animals to use.

A large bridge built over the 101 Freeway in Southern California’s Santa Monica Mountains is nearing completion. The crossing is designed to help animals like mountain lions, bobcats, and lizards safely move between habitats separated by 10 lanes of traffic.

Set to open later this year, the structure will be one of the largest wildlife crossings in the world. Early signs of plant and insect life on the bridge suggest it may already be supporting local ecosystems.

There’s a price increase for potato vine industry wide bc the market got wiped out with the cold weather. If you buy from us in two weeks, the price will be $3.75 each every where in town bc that’s what the green houses have to pay to get to the product here.

Added 5 tons of 3”-4” rock to help with the erosion. We knocked it out before they opened for business. We can beat almost anyone’s price in Lubbock.
