**Welcome Story and Coco to The Helping Hands Animal Rescue!** 🐾❤️

Imagine the bustling energy at our facility as we welcomed a remarkable pair: Story and Coco, a mother-daughter duo from Levelland, both expecting and in need of a cozy spot to deliver their little treasures before their next big adventure. These sweet girls arrived with an undeniable charm, and we knew right away they were going to steal our hearts.

🐶 Coco: The Adventurous Climber 🐾

Coco quickly became the center of attention, especially when we discovered her knack for climbing! Knowing she was close to delivering, we placed a top on her kennel to keep her safe. Just a few days later, she joyfully gave birth to 7 beautiful puppies and we thought she would stay put to care for them. With the top removed, Coco settled into her role as a mom, reveling in the chaos of motherhood with her little nuggets.

🐶 Story: The Shy Protector 🌟

In contrast, Story was more timid, her cautious nature keeping her close to her kennel. Each day, we’d check on her, eager for news of her puppies. Then one day, the unexpected happened! I walked in to find her outside her kennel with 2 two tiny pups, tucked away in a narrow space behind our refrigerator. In her excitement, she darted into a dark crevice, seemingly seeking refuge and safety for her new family.

🤔 The Challenge: A Hidden Family 🐶

It became clear that Story had found a secret spot to give birth. Despite our coaxing, Story preferred her snug hideaway. I placed food and water nearby, hoping she would feel comfortable enough to come out. But as the cries of a newborn filled the space, I knew we had to act sooner rather than later. Upon further inspection, Coco, had added some new additions to her family. 7 to be exact! 🫣 We let her care for Story’s sweet pups while we formed a plan to reunite them with their mom. 

⛑️ Operation Rescue: The Call for Help ☎️

The next evening, I reached out to my friend Ashley for assistance. Together, we were unable to enter the 1 1/2 foot space. Ashley contacted her friend to come see if she could help, but we soon realized we needed a smaller hero for this mission. Enter Dylan, a spirited young boy with a heart full of courage! He arrived with his mom, ready to dive into the adventure of saving Story’s hidden pups.

💫Dylan: The Little Hero 🦸‍♂️

After explaining the situation, Dylan fearlessly crawled into the tight space. To our amazement, he didn’t just find one puppy—he discovered 4! In total, Story had given birth to 11 adorable puppies!** With determination, Dylan gathered the little ones and emerged triumphantly from the narrow opening.

🐶A Heartwarming Reunion 🎉

The joy of reuniting Story with her 11 puppies was indescribable. While Coco was a bit sad to see the newcomers go, she could now focus all her love on her own seven nuggets, creating a cozy family atmosphere.

Good afternoon, dear friends!

Let me share with you the heart-wrenching story of Gypsy Rose and her four precious little nuggets. This two-year-old mama dog and her sweet family are enduring unimaginable hardships that no animal should ever have to face.

It all began when a handful of compassionate individuals saw a post about a mother dog and her four puppies who were left to fend for themselves in a culvert in the countryside. Abandoned like trash, they were struggling to survive. A kind-hearted community member had been trying to earn the mom’s trust for a week, providing her with food and water. She could barely feed them from her hand, as they were understandably wary and traumatized.

To add to this tragic tale, it became clear that the community knew exactly who had cruelly discarded this little family. It was rumored that the owner’s son had shot Gypsy Rose in the eye with a BB gun, leaving her terrified and in pain. Her eye was visibly injured, a haunting reminder of the cruelty she endured.

While I was in the area to help trap three other abandoned dogs, I decided to visit Gypsy Rose and her pups. The terrain was challenging, making it difficult to set a trap where she was hiding. We opted to place a box trap on the road, and to our relief, it didn’t take long for Gypsy Rose to enter.

As we worked to catch her four little ones, something miraculous happened. Cars, trucks, and people began to pull up, eager to help. Two gentlemen waded through the tall grass, attempting to trap them. One by one, the puppies were caught, with the last one fleeing into the culvert. But two brave teenagers dove in and pulled him out, ensuring that all were safe.

Now, Gypsy Rose and her nuggets are acclimating to their new lives. They have plenty of food, water, and shelter, and, most importantly, they are learning what it means to receive love and safety.

Today marked a significant step for Gypsy Rose as she visited the vet for an assessment. The findings were devastating: she had been shot three times with a .22 caliber rifle. There are bullets lodged in her nose, her eye, and her side. She will need surgery to remove these bullets, and tragically, she will lose her eye. Additionally, she will be spayed to prevent future litters and will have one dead canine tooth removed. On a brighter note, she tested negative for heartworms and tick-borne diseases, but she does have a heart murmur that requires monitoring.

Gypsy Rose urgently needs this surgery, as she is in pain. To provide her with the treatment she desperately needs, we need to raise $600.
