💧 Water Update: Lynn

Lynn is under a Level 3 Mandatory Water Ban as of September 15, 2026. The city's reservoirs have dropped to about 48.7% capacity amid the ongoing regional drought.

What's restricted:
All non-essential outdoor water use is banned — no lawn watering, no washing vehicles, and irrigation systems must stay off. Fire hydrant use is limited to firefighting, emergencies, and authorized water-quality work. Most municipal park, cemetery, and playground irrigation is paused too.

What's still allowed:
Essential indoor use (full loads only for dishwashers/washing machines).

First-time violations get a warning; repeat violations can mean fines or water service termination.

Lynn Water & Sewer says the public will be notified once conditions improve and the ban is lifted. Questions can go to the Water Supply and Treatment office at 781-596-2400 ext. 302.

Earlier this week a Lynn mother called police after her special‑needs son’s school bus was hours late on his first day at Connery Elementary. The family says they could not reach the transportation company (NRT) while the child and about a dozen other special‑education students were delayed. Lynn Public Schools and the carrier acknowledged route and communication problems; the district did not directly confirm the family's claim about car‑seat use.

Did you grow up taking school field trips into the pitch-black tunnels of Lynn Woods, or were you normal? 🔦👀

Most people outside the North Shore have no idea that Lynn Woods hides one of the wildest pirate legends in New England. In 1658, a pirate named Thomas Veal allegedly escaped capture by hiding deep inside a cavern with his crew’s stolen treasure. Legend says an earthquake that same year caused massive boulders to collapse, trapping Veal—and the gold—inside forever. ⛏️🪙

Fast-forward nearly 200 years to the 1850s: a man named Hiram Marble bought the land, claiming spirits were communicating with him through clairvoyants and revealing the treasure's location. For over 30 years, Marble and his son chipped away at solid granite by hand, carving out the eerie 135-foot tunnel and stone staircase we can still walk down today. 🕯️👻

They never found the gold... or did they? 🤔
