Y’all… Listen Here - Episode #59: Are We Raising Christian Kids or Just Good Kids?
This week on Y’all Listen Here, Barbie Bassett and Therese Apel are joined by special guest Gary Maze for a conversation that asks a challenging question: Are we raising Christian kids, or are we simply raising good kids?
There’s a difference between teaching children to be polite, responsible, successful, and kind, and teaching them what it means to genuinely know and follow Christ.
Barbie, Therese, and Gary dig into what faith looks like beyond good behavior, church attendance, and knowing the right answers. They talk about modeling an authentic relationship with Christ at home, helping kids develop a faith of their own, and why raising “good kids” may be a worthy goal, but it isn’t the same thing as raising disciples.
It’s an honest conversation about parenting, faith, and what we’re really preparing the next generation for.

In Episode 14 of the BrickFolio Podcast, Brian and Daniel welcome Casey Bridges to the Audio Alchemy Studios for a conversation about entrepreneurship, real estate, and community service.
Casey shares the story behind Casey Can, his home services company, and the wide range of property services his team provides throughout the Jackson metro area.
They also dive into Casey’s real estate ventures, including Bridges Properties, LLC, Bridges Property Management, LLC, and Action Property Management, LLC, which serve as the foundation for his flipping, rental, and property management work.
Beyond business, Casey has become known for rolling up his sleeves to help clean up streets, neighborhoods, and communities throughout Jackson. Brian and Daniel talk with him about why that work matters, what drives him to serve, and how entrepreneurship and real estate can become tools for making a community stronger.
It’s a conversation about building businesses, improving properties, serving people, and taking ownership of the place you call home.

Investigation: Homicide, Episode #78 -- Not Guilty
In September 2022, Jaylen Lewis, 25, was shot and killed during a Capitol Police stop at West and Mayes streets in Jackson. Two officers fired that night: Steven Frederick Jr. and Michael Rhinewalt. Both were charged with manslaughter, and the case drew strong reactions from every direction, about the shooting itself and about the two men on trial.
After almost a week in Judge Faye Peterson's courtroom, a Hinds County jury deliberated less than five hours before finding Frederick not guilty. Jurors could not reach a verdict on Rhinewalt, and Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced hours later that her office will not retry him.
In this exclusive interview, Therese Apel and Amanda Johansson sit down with Steven Frederick to hear firsthand what the past four years have been like, from the night of the shooting through the verdict, and how he says God carried him through it.

But this isn’t just a recovery story. The crew gets into Ron’s life today, his work in nursing and healthcare education, lessons learned along the way, and plenty of unexpected, funny, and interesting detours.

BrickFolio - Episode #13: From Apple to Real Estate: Building a Frictionless Furnished Rental Business with Vivian Yip
What happens when you take the systems and operational thinking behind launching iPhones and apply them to real estate investing?
On Episode 13 of BrickFolio, co-hosts Daniel Anderson and Brian Biernat sit down with real estate investor and mid-term rental expert Vivian Yip.
After spending nearly seven years at Apple working on iPhone launches, Vivian made the leap into real estate. She and her husband have completed more than 40 flips, and Vivian went on to build CRU Homes, a network of more than 1,000 properties serving insurance-displaced families and corporate housing clients.
Daniel and Brian talk with Vivian about leaving the corporate world, scaling a real estate business, the growing opportunity in mid-term rentals, and why strong systems become critical as your portfolio grows.
They also dig into Vivian’s Frictionless MTR System, and how investors can create a more predictable rental business without being chained to their phones.
If you’re interested in real estate investing, furnished rentals, mid-term rentals, or building a business that gives you more freedom instead of another full-time job, this episode is for you.
