SLP believes the leadership process begins by strengthening individual leadership skills. We offer opportunities to develop fundamental leadership skills that are necessary to maintaining successful personal relationships, contributing to campus organizations and participating as citizens in our community.

It’s time for our last member highlight of the semester! Nyla is currently taking point on a clinical research project regarding data analysis and creating a machine learning model for ICU patients. She says that SLP has given her the communication skills to ask for help when needed but also knowing when working through a problem on her own will provide a learning experience. Nyla also says that SLP has helped with her communication and facilitation skills and this semester’s theme of getting uncomfortable has really helped in her current project. Well done, Nyla! 🔥🥼

Spring is here and so is April’s member highlight! Sophia is a fellow with Madison Commons, a hyperlocal news organization on campus. In this role, she is investigating the intersection between housing insecurity and youth mental health and she has worked with the UW-Odyssey Project to write solutions-journalism stories and plan an upcoming event related to this. SLP has helped Sophia focus her leadership development skills and supported her in pursuing her personal interests, such as the school supply drive. SLP enables Sophia to practice her event-planning skills and support youth in the Madison community. Keep it up, Sophia! 📰 👏
