🏈 Homecoming Weekend: Maple Grove & Osseo 🎉
The school spirit is already showing — and yes, our officers have already followed a few “paper trails” overnight.
🚓 Homecoming is about fun, memories, and pride — but sometimes the excitement goes a little too far. Let’s keep the energy high without giving officers another reason to knock on your door tonight. 🚪😉
🎓 Students
• 🎉 Have fun. Cheer loud.
• 👀 Look out for your friends.
• 🏠 Respect other people, their property, and our community.
• 🚫🧻 And remember — toilet paper belongs in the bathroom, not on someone’s house.
👨👩👧 Parents
• 📍 Know where your teens are going.
• 👥 Know who they’re with.
• 🚗 Know how they’re getting home.
• 💬 A quick conversation before they head out can make a big difference.
🏟️ Everyone heading to the game, dance, or weekend activities
• 🚘 Drive responsibly.
• 📵 Never drive distracted or impaired.
• 🛟 Make sure you have a safe ride home.
• 🤝 Look out for one another.
🧻 Let’s leave the “paper trail” to the officers — and make this a Homecoming weekend remembered for all the right reasons.
🎉 Have fun. 🧠 Be responsible. 🏡 Get home safely.

Our Maple Grove D.A.R.E. Officers are excited to partner with families across the community as the 2026–2027 school year gets underway. Each year, the D.A.R.E. program provides thousands of young students with practical skills they can use both in and out of the classroom and parents play a key role in that journey.
Meet you child's D.A.R.E. Officer:
Officer Laurel Slawson — Elm Creek, Rice Lake, Oak View, Weaver Lake, St. Johns, and Aspen Ridge
Officer Justin Smith — Basswood, Fernbrook, Rush Creek, Cedar Island, and Aspen Ridge
Together, they connect with approximately 2,500 students across three grade levels each year.
What D.A.R.E. Looks Like Today
The D.A.R.E. program has evolved significantly over the past few decades. Today’s curriculum is built around helping children make safe, confident choices and developing skills they will use throughout their lives.
Students learn about:
• leadership and responsibility
• effective communication and active listening
• managing stress
• building and identifying trusted support networks
• respect and healthy relationships
• bullying prevention
• digital citizenship
• resisting peer pressure
• the health effects of alcohol and vaping…and many other age appropriate topics designed to support their overall well being.
Our Commitment to Your Family ~ We are proud to build strong connections with students across Maple Grove and Osseo each year. Our D.A.R.E. officers are dedicated to being positive role models, approachable resources, and trusted partners in your child’s learning environment.
Thank you for sharing your students with us. We look forward to another impactful year supporting your children, working alongside educators, and helping equip young learners with skills they’ll carry far beyond their elementary years.

Today, we solemnly remember the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders and all who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness in the face of tragedy.
We reflect on their lives, their sacrifice, and the resilience and unity shown by our nation.
