No Limits Method

The first week of school isn't just about learning classroom routines.

It's about learning about each other.

In Miss Jordyn's classroom, students spent ELA getting to know their classmates by answering questions about themselves using their Tobii Dynavox eye gaze AAC devices. These simple questions became meaningful opportunities to communicate, listen, recall information, and connect with one another.

Along the way, students practiced so much more than academics:
💙 Using AAC to answer questions independently
💙 Listening while classmates shared
💙 Taking turns in conversation
💙 Building confidence through encouragement
💙 Strengthening social connections from day one

Notice something else? There was no pressure to be perfect. When a student needed a little extra support or answered incorrectly, the focus stayed on learning, trying again, and celebrating progress.

That's what meaningful education looks like.
Because communication isn't a separate lesson, it's woven into everything we do.

When most people think about accessible homes, they picture ramps, grab bars, or wheelchair lifts inside. But accessibility begins before you ever cross the threshold.

For families raising children with disabilities, or adults creating homes that support independence, the journey starts with simply being able to enter your own home safely and confidently.

This entry was intentionally designed with:
✔️ A gradual, graded walkway instead of steps
✔️ A wide entrance for easier wheelchair access
✔️ A seamless path from outside to inside

They're simple design choices, but they make everyday life easier, for wheelchair users, caregivers, grandparents, delivery workers, and anyone moving equipment or mobility devices.

Accessibility isn't about making a home look different. It's about making a home work for the people who live there.
That's why we're sharing this series, not because every family needs the same modifications, but because seeing what's possible can help spark ideas for creating a home that better supports your own family's needs.

One of the biggest mistakes we can make is assuming every student should access learning the same way.

In this clip from Micro-Credential #5: Create My Connection, Miss Savannah shares the story of a student who has developed his own successful strategy for communicating.

Our job isn't to stop him from using the strategy that works.
Our job is to recognize it, respect it, and build instruction around it.
That's what creating connections means.

It means understanding that every student's motor abilities, sensory needs, and communication strategies are unique and designing learning experiences that support those differences instead of fighting against them.

When we customize the environment, the instruction, and the expectations to fit the needs of each student, we create more opportunities for accurate communication, meaningful participation, and successful learning.

If we ever had a documentary, it wouldn't be about building a school or creating a method to reach and teach neurodiverse students…

It would be about moments that led us there.
The conversations after difficult IEP meetings.
The nights spent wondering, "There has to be a better way."
Raising two sons with cerebral palsy and watching systems underestimate what they could do.
Choosing to build something different instead.

Instead of spilling the tea, our cup overflows with knowledge and wisdom we have gained over the years, and we want to share the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Because if our story helps one family, one teacher, or one student, it’s worth telling. ✨

To some, these may seem like small moments.

What if we've been starting with the wrong question? 💡

During his presentation at the Step Up For Students Conference: Navigating New Horizons – Facing the Future Together, Dr. Cheyne Joslin challenged educators to rethink how we approach support for neurodiverse learners.

When we talk about supporting students, we often jump straight to:
"What accommodations or supports does this student need?"

But before we can answer that, we have to understand the student.
How do they communicate?
How do they process information?
How do they experience the world around them?
What barriers are getting in the way of learning?

Only then can we identify the supports that will actually create meaningful access.

Education isn't just about delivering content. It's about making sure the content can reach the student in the first place. Understanding the learner isn't an extra step, it's the foundation of Therapeutic Education.
