Lilly the lovely Shih Tzu 💕 🐶

Did you know Shih Tzu translates to “little lion” in mandarin? 🦁

Another interesting fact about the breed is that all Shih Tzus today can trace their lineage back to fourteen dogs (seven males and seven females). When the Qing dynasty collapsed in 1912, the breed was nearly lost. We have these beautiful companions today only because a few dogs had been exported to Europe, giving breeders a chance to rebuild the lineage.

Bentley’s sister is named Mercedes. Guess what kind of car their mom and dad drive when they come to drop them off at the shop 😝 🚗

It is official. Production is underway.

I will soon be the proud owner of my very own mobile grooming trailer. I am so excited. 😆

You may notice the lack of a grooming table but do not fret! We are looking at tables and still deciding 👀

Meet Oban! He was such a good boy on the table and in the tub. We made sure he had plenty of opportunities to lay down and rest while we worked on his fresh cut. 10/10 would have again ❤️

Keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

In this life, you will struggle, and you will stumble. So make sure you surround yourself with people who will help you find your footing—people who will encourage you, people who will cheer for you, people who will remind you of just how far you’ve come and just how far you can go when you move forward with boldness.

This has been an incredible challenge to finish.

Commuting from Melbourne to Ocoee five days a week for more than four months. Then balancing an apprenticeship on weekends while still working to finish the course. Long days. Difficult, anxious dogs. Expensive, unexpected car troubles.

It has cost so much time and so much money.

But I can’t tell you how good it feels to be able to say this:

I have graduated from the 600-hour Professional Pet Stylist Course at Woof Gang Academy.

The connections and friendships I’ve made along the way. The skilled and talented groomers I’ve met. The dogs I’ve had the privilege of working with. It has all been worth the long drives. The long days. The moments when I thought:

“Why did I quit my job? Why did I do this to myself? How will I ever be good enough to make a living doing this?”

Surprise—I already am.

That apprenticeship I started is now my full-time job.

And I can’t wait to show you all what I’m going to do next.

Midnight, the senior Pekingese, Pug mix? 😝

Midnight was so good from start to finish. His owner says he’s 23 years old now. He looks pretty good for 23 I think! He had so much trouble standing so we did most of the haircut laying down. 🐾

Hagrid, the Newfypoo. 🐶

Quite the dramatic new style for our big boy, Hagrid. We took all that coat off to let him start fresh. Hagrid definitely takes the title of biggest dog I’ve ever groomed. Thankfully, he was very well mannered and incredibly patient while I worked to get him clean and comfortable 🐾

We did a Schnauzer Pattern on him which turned out pretty nice I think 💕
