At Hire Local, our primary focus is building and empowering our local healthcare workforce. But strong healthcare starts outside the clinic walls—it begins with a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our neighbors.

Join us this Saturday morning for a quick shift in perspective! We’re stepping away from the normal routine to give back and clean up the neighborhood alongside B.B. Clean.

Verified Hours: Need to log volunteer or community service hours for school, certifications, etc.? We’ll sign off on your hours on-site right after the event.

Perks: The first 10 volunteers to register on Eventbrite score a FREE ticket to Taste of the District + exclusive B.B. Clean swag!

Supplies Provided: Gloves, bags, and clean-up tools will be provided on-site—just bring yourself!

Our team has processed over 1,300 applications this year for less than 50 available seats.

Because demand is so high and our spots are limited, our team vets every candidate as thoroughly as possible to set everyone up for success. That careful process means it can take up to a FULL YEAR to hear back about your acceptance into Hire Local.

When your name is called, you HAVE to be ready.

That wait isn't meant to discourage you—it’s your window to prepare. Getting into this program takes persistence, dedication, and complete commitment. You need to stay ready so you don't have to get ready when your moment arrives.

September is Workforce Development Month, and we’re keeping it real about the EMT journey.

Interest in becoming an EMT is high, but there are a limited number of EMT training seats available in our community. This year alone, has processed more than 400 applications from people interested in the EMT pathway.

The reality? It can take MONTHS for a training opportunity to become available.

So while you wait, get ready for your shot:
Prepare. EMT training moves quickly. Refresh your anatomy and other foundational knowledge now.
Make room. Be prepared to dedicate 10–15 hours each week outside of class to studying, especially during accelerated prerequisite courses.

Stay responsive. Check your email, answer your phone, and respond promptly when Hire Local or a training partner reaches out.

Follow through. Complete required steps and meet deadlines so you’re ready to move when an opportunity becomes available.

The wait may be long. Don’t let it be wasted time. Prepare now so that when your opportunity comes, you’re ready to make the most of it.
