A Way Out Ministries exists to disrupt the vicious cycle of sexual exploitation and trafficking

A Way Out Ministries was founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1992 and was the first ministry in the US who specifically sought to help topless dancers

Today, we take action against sexual exploitation and pornography by advocating for legislative changes, helping rescue and restore those victimized by and trapped in the sex industry, and educating the community on the harmful impact of the sex industry.

One of the most difficult parts of our work is reaching women who are being trafficked and exploited online.

Our outreach team reviews es**rt advertisements posted on platforms where men go to solicit s*x. Through a secure helpline, we text and call numbers associated with these advertisements—carefully and prayerfully trying to establish contact, build trust, and let women know that someone genuinely wants to help.

For the past three years, we have received threats almost every week while doing this work from a number we didn't text. Some threats claim to claim to come from foreign cartels. Others include graphic images and videos depicting horrific violence. We will not share those images because we refuse to amplify the trauma behind them.

We document these threats and provide them to law enforcement for investigation. So far, we have not seen meaningful results.

These are not distant stories. The advertisements we are seeing are from women in the Memphis area, and this same exploitation happens in cities across the country.

After more than 15 years of doing outreach nationally—including outreach surrounding the Super Bowl—and after being trained by experts in Asheville, North Carolina, we have never experienced this level of direct intimidation. These are screenshots of a few from this week.

We take every precaution. We operate with secure systems, established safety protocols, and wisdom.

But we will not operate in fear.

Fear is exactly what evil wants.

We choose wisdom. Fortitude. Compassion. Prayer.

And this is why we are sharing this—not to sensationalize the threats, but to help people understand the level of violence and control that many of the women we reach are exposed to.

There is hope.

Just this week, we met in person with a woman we had been texting through our call center for an entire year.

It took that long for her to fully trust that we weren't law enforcement—that we genuinely cared about her and wanted to help.

We brought her lunch and nonperishable food. While we were there, we observed someone under the stairway who appeared to be watching her.

That is the reality of this work.

Trust takes time. Freedom takes courage. And sometimes, the first step toward leaving is simply knowing that someone will keep showing up.

Will you stand with us?

🙏 PRAY — Pray for the women and girls being exploited, for their safety, for freedom, and for the wisdom and protection of everyone reaching out to them. Join our prayer team to pray while we are at our Call Center.

☎️ JOIN OUR CALL CENTER TEAM — Our team meets twice a month at a secure location, using secure phone lines and custom-built case-management technology to reach women and girls via text who are actively being exploited online. We need people willing to serve with compassion, wisdom, consistency, and discretion.

💙 BECOME A MONTHLY PARTNER — A gift of any amount helps us continue texting, reaching, building relationships, providing practical assistance, and walking alongside women as they work toward permanently exiting exploitation. All the technology we use and tangible resources we provide have a cost.

This work doesn't happen in one conversation.

Sometimes it takes a year of showing up before someone believes you're safe.

But when she finally says, “I trust you,” every message, every prayer, every meal, and every hour becomes worth it.

We will keep reaching.
We will keep showing up.
We will keep believing freedom is possible.

Join us. Pray with us. Serve with us. Give with us.

Because every woman deserves a way out.

Please keep our outreach team in prayer, as they are out ministering. We are so grateful for churches who partner with us to make every encounter possible and for prayer warriors who intercede for us and those we reach.

Lord may Your light shine in the darkness.

Two women. Two stories. Two lives worth fighting for. ❤️

We are helping several women take real, permanent steps toward exiting the s*x industry—and this week, we want to invite you into the story.

One of the women we’re walking alongside is a dancer who has told us she is ready for a different life. We connected her with trauma therapy and helped pay for her sessions. Recently, we met at the library, where we worked together to strengthen her resume and talked about the future God has for her.

She has a genuine desire to live her life for Jesus. At one point, she said something that stopped us in our tracks:

“I want the old me back.”

She owns a small business. She’s in school. She has a desire to buy a home. She is dreaming again—and we are walking beside her, believing with her that those dreams can become reality in Jesus’ name.

Please pray for her and her son. 🙏

Another woman we’ve been reaching through our call center is in an incredibly difficult place. She has lost custody of her child, is moving from hotel to hotel, and is struggling to meet even basic needs.

We’re helping her navigate applications for housing and connect with a safe place where she can receive healing and experience true freedom. This morning, we’re bringing her non-perishable food because she is hungry.

This is what ministry looks like.

Sometimes it’s trauma therapy.
Sometimes it’s a resume at the library.
Sometimes it’s helping fill out an application.
Sometimes it’s sitting with someone and reminding her that her story is not over.
And sometimes, it’s simply making sure a hungry woman has something to eat.

Every week, we have the privilege of reaching women with the love of Jesus and helping them take steps toward restoration, freedom, and a new future.

But we can’t do it without you.

Would you consider becoming a monthly donor? Your recurring gift helps us provide practical needs like food, support women pursuing new employment, connect them with healing resources, and continue walking alongside them as they build lives outside the s*x industry.

Your monthly gift can help turn survival into stability, hopelessness into hope, and broken dreams into new beginnings. Think of it this way... would you sacrifice a coffee or lunch out every month and donate $10, $20, $30 or more monthly if it was your daughter, sister, or aunt. These women are that to someone and you can play a role in changing lives!

Help us keep showing women, in tangible ways, that they are seen, loved, valued—and that in Jesus, freedom is possible.

Please pray for these two women, their children, and the many others we reach every week. ❤️🙏

This is what the Body of Christ looks like. ❤️

Today, one of our incredible volunteers from Gateway Baptist Church trained a new volunteer from Highland Heights Presbyterian Church on how to bushhog our pastures at the Meadow Campus.

Sometimes people hear about AWO Ministries and assume this is “just a women’s ministry.” But the fight against human trafficking is a place where the entire Body of Christ can come together—and there are so many meaningful ways for men to engage, serve, and make a difference.

Today was a beautiful picture of that.

As our new male volunteer prayed over our ministry and the women we serve, his heart was visibly moved. There were tears as he prayed for the women whose stories have been marked by trauma, exploitation, and hardship—and for the restoration, freedom, and hope God desires for each one.

It was such a sweet reminder that this work belongs to all of us. Different churches. Different denominations. Different gifts. Different generations. One mission. One Savior. One Body.

Whether you can swing a hammer, bushhog a pasture, help maintain our campus, pray, volunteer, or serve in another capacity, there is a place for you in this fight.

If you’re interested in learning how you can engage with AWO Ministries and serve the women we love, email [email protected].

This is what the Body of Christ looks like when we link arms and say, “We’re in this together.” 🙏🏼❤️

SEVEN YEARS AGO, SHE WAS TRAPPED.
TODAY, SHE IS FREE. 🕊️

Seven years ago, God rescued this survivor from our call center.

Today, she kneels in front of a mural painted here at our meadow—a bird rising from the place where she once lived in captivity, now flying free.

And around her wrists are chains.

But they are breaking.

Because this is what freedom looks like.

Not pretending the chains never existed.
Not forgetting what happened.
But standing in the truth that what once held you does not get to hold you forever.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
— John 8:36

She is not defined by what was done to her.

She is a survivor.
She is a daughter.
She is worthy.
She is healing.
She is free.
And now, this mural will be the first thing every woman sees when they step onto our campus.

A bird taking flight.
A meadow behind her.

A reminder that rescue is not the end of the story.

Freedom is.

We believe that what was meant to destroy a life does not get the final word.

Jesus does.

And the same God who brought her through the darkest places is still calling women out of captivity, into healing, into dignity, and into freedom.

“He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.”
— Psalm 18:19

🕊️ The chains can break.
The wounds can heal.
The story can change.
Freedom is possible.

Welcome to the meadow.

This is where freedom takes flight.
