I had the pleasure of joining Dr. Sarah Young on the NeuroAlchemy podcast for a conversation about neuroplasticity, emotional literacy, prevention, and the incredible capacity we all have to intentionally shape our future.
We explored how emotional regulation is a skill that can be learned, why prevention matters, and how our brains can continue to change throughout life.
If you’re interested in personal growth, resilience, and creating lasting change, I hope you’ll give it a listen.
I’d love to hear what resonates with you!

🧠 Your brain is not fixed. Your patterns are not permanent.
What if emotional resilience could be taught before someone reached a breaking point?
In today’s episode of NeuroAlchemy: The Brain-Body Healing Podcast, I sit down with licensed psychotherapist Beatriz Martinez-Peñalver for a hopeful conversation about neuroplasticity, emotional regulation, and our ability to participate in shaping our future wiring.
After more than three decades in community mental health, Beatriz began exploring a prevention-based approach to emotional wellness. That question eventually became the foundation of her Triumph Steps framework.
Together, we explore:
✨ How repeated thoughts strengthen neural pathways
✨ Why emotional regulation is a trainable skill
✨ How fear and stress shape nervous system responses
✨ Identity reconstruction after adversity
✨ Visualization and future-self wiring
✨ Small daily practices that support resilience
✨ How to cultivate greater internal peace
At the heart of this conversation is a deeply empowering reminder:
Your brain can change. Your emotional patterns can evolve. You are an active participant in who you are becoming.
🌿 This week’s micro practice is the GLAD Practice:
G: What did you take for granted that you can appreciate today?
L: What did you learn?
A: What did you achieve?
D: What brought you delight?
Try it for the next seven nights and notice what begins to shift.
🎧 Listen to today’s episode, then come back and tell us:
Which part of the GLAD Practice do you most want to strengthen in your life?

Coaching gives direction.
Clinical experience gives perspective.
Together, they create a powerful path for transformation — without confusing coaching with therapy.
Clinicians are not “just becoming coaches.”
They are bringing their understanding of human behavior into a new, ethical, structured way of helping people grow.
Join us on Friday, July 17, from 8:30 AM–3:30 PM in Miami, FL for our 6-CEU workshop, Integrate Coaching Into Your Practice.
Learn how to ethically integrate coaching into your clinical work, understand the distinctions between therapy and coaching, and gain practical tools to help clients move from healing to lasting growth.

Anyone can learn coaching skills.
But years in mental health teach you what to notice, what to respect, and what not to ignore.
That is why clinicians don’t need to start from zero.
They need a coaching framework that allows them to use their expertise ethically and confidently.

Coaching helps people move forward.
Clinical training helps us understand what makes forward movement difficult.
Not to diagnose.
Not to treat.
Not to turn coaching into therapy.
But to coach with wisdom, structure, and a deep respect for how humans change.

A coach sees potential.
A clinician-coach also understands that growth is influenced by patterns, beliefs, fear, motivation, and past learning.
That doesn’t mean we do therapy in coaching.
It means we bring a deeper understanding of human behavior to the coaching process.
That is our advantage.

Happy 250th, America! 🇺🇸 May we continue to dream bigger, grow stronger, and always remember that our greatest triumphs begin with our thoughts. ❤️🤍💙

Coaching is not therapy.
But clinicians bring something powerful into coaching: years of understanding human behavior.
A coaching certification teaches the process.
Clinical experience helps us understand the person.
That is why clinicians are so well positioned to become exceptional coaches — when they have the right ethical framework.

Many therapists are curious about coaching but aren’t sure where the ethical boundaries are—or whether it could fit into their practice.
If you’ve ever wondered:
✅ Can I coach and do therapy?
✅ How do I stay ethical?
✅ Is coaching right for me?
✅ Why are so many clinicians adding coaching?
I created a FREE webinar that answers these questions and more.
👇 I’ll put the link in the comments.
Triumph is a skill that can be learned and I love teaching it.
What a wonderful day at Step Up For Students Navigating New Horizons: Facing the Future Together in Orlando!
It was such a joy to reconnect with schools that have been implementing the Triumph Steps®️ program for years and to meet so many passionate educators who are committed to creating brighter futures for our children.
One of my favorite exhibitors was Maschio Food. They treated us to an exceptional ceviche—a small taste of the healthy, delicious meals they bring to schools every day. How lucky those students are!
I was also deeply inspired to begin the day with the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. It was a beautiful reminder that when educators, families, and communities come together with a shared purpose, we can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of children.
