Not every part of your trip deserves the same budget.
After planning enough luxury trips, I’ve learned exactly where the extra spend is worth it and where it’s just paying for a name.
The flight, the hotel, and one great private guide are worth every penny.
Skipping the big brand hotel for a boutique gem and saving fine dining for a night or two, that’s where the smart money moves.

Kids grow up and start booking their own trips eventually, that’s the whole point. Until that day comes, every family trip is a little bit of a bribe to keep them close a while longer.

People assume any safari gets you the Big 5.

I thought I knew what to expect from safari.
I was wrong about almost all of it. The wake up calls are early, the best moments move too fast for a fancy camera, and the animals you don’t expect end up being the ones you talk about for years.

Remember when I said I was headed to Italy for “research”?
Truth is, it was also our anniversary trip. Plus I was quietly scouting 🤫 a few things for our GIRLFRIENDS CULINARY RETREAT in Italy next Fall.
Life had other plans, and that’s okay, it happens to all of us, even the person who plans trips for a living.

It’s never just about the destination.
