MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE SHIPP HOMESTEAD! 🐮🐷🐔🎄🎁✨️

Over the last 2 weeks we have had 30 egg layer chicks and 50 meat bird chicks delivered. It was time to prepare for a fresh new flock for egg laying in the spring and get our next set of meat birds ready to fill our freezer and sell. After hatching our own and ending up with a massive amount of roosters this year, we decided to order some hens for the spring. We will most likely hatch out some chicks in the spring anyway but this way we can guarantee enough egg production to keep up with the egg demand and my cooking and baking needs! We can't wait to see what they look like as they grow and see what color eggs we get in the early spring! 👀 🐣🐥🪺

Matt has been so wonderful, helping turn my dreams into reality here at the Stead. A while back, he randomly brought home this trailer for a different project, and it ended up just sitting around. I had this idea to create a mobile chicken coop for my egg layers so they could help improve our fields and hang out behind the cows. It’s perfect because they get to "free range" in a contained space each day, which also makes cleaning so much easier—any mess falls right through to the ground below, and since we move it every day, it doesn’t pile up. He did such an amazing job putting it all together, and I think the ladies love it as much as I do! Introducing The Shipp Homestead Cluck Wagon!
