Swift Studio

Swift Studio promotes housing for the chimney swifts, a native insectivorous birds contributing to environmental quality but threatened by a lack of nesting options. Our collective marries a vision of a community with artistic expression by creating a series of functional art installations, swift nesting towers, to enhance the experience of place and path along the Milwaukee Urban Water trail. We develop approaches with aesthetic integrity to invite participants of all ages. Swift Studio is a group of MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design) students under the instruction of Jill Sebastian and John Durbrow. In addition to the creation of public art landmarks, an educational exhibition detailing the approaches and developments of our research and energy will be featured at The Urban Ecology Center.
