This is what a Tuesday looks like at Pure Intensity.

No crowd. No scoreboard. No highlight reel waiting at the end of it. Just a gym that's open, coaches who are actually watching, and players getting reps they can't get anywhere else.

Ball-handling under real pressure. Shooting on our Dr. Dish machines, so the session gets spent shooting instead of chasing. Small groups, so a correction happens on the rep instead of three weeks later.

Youth through college. Boys and girls. Same floor, same standard.

There is no off-season for a shooter.

There's just the part of the year everybody sees, and the part nobody does.

Every player who walks into a gym next winter looking like they added something did it six months earlier in an empty building. No crowd. No scoreboard. Nobody keeping track except them and a number they had to hit before they could go home.

That's the whole secret, and it's why so few players have it. Not because the work is complicated β€” because it's boring, and because most kids spend half of it jogging after the ball.

That's what our Dr. Dish machines are for. The machine rebounds and passes. Your player just shoots. Same hour, far more of it spent actually shooting.

February is when a shot gets noticed. July is when it gets built.

The season doesn't build your shot. It spends it.

Look at what a game week actually costs. Monday is scout. Tuesday is a game. Wednesday is walkthrough and film. Thursday the legs are gone. Friday is another game.

Somewhere in there your player is supposed to keep a jump shot sharp β€” the one they spent all summer building.

It doesn't happen by accident. And it definitely doesn't happen standing in a shooting line waiting for somebody to rebound.

Our Dr. Dish machines rebound and pass, so thirty minutes is thirty minutes of actual shooting. No chasing. No waiting your turn. Just reps at game speed with a coach watching the release.

The shot your player built in July is worth protecting in January.

The thing that gets players cut is almost never what they think.

It's rarely the jump shot. It's usually:

β€” Can't finish with the off hand
β€” Loses the handle the second real pressure shows up
β€” Disappears when they don't have the ball
β€” Doesn't talk on defense

Here's the good news buried in that list: every single one is fixable in a matter of weeks. None of them require getting taller.

That's most of what we work on in the fall. Not magic. Just the unglamorous stuff, repeated, with somebody watching closely enough to catch the drift.

Count the shots your player gets in a normal team practice.

Then subtract the ones spent chasing the ball.

Dr. Dish rebounds for them. That's the whole pitch β€” the reps go up, the standing around goes away, and every shot gets tracked instead of guessed at.

Team shooting blocks available for association teams, boys and girls, all levels.

The banner on our wall says it better than we can:

"The vision of a champion is someone drenched in sweat at the point of exhaustion, when no one is watching."

That's the whole standard. Nothing about that requires talent.

There are two kinds of players at tryouts.

The ones who spent the fall getting better, and the ones who spent the last two weeks getting nervous.

Coaches can tell them apart in about ten minutes. Not because of talent β€” because of what's automatic. The footwork that doesn't need thinking about. The shot that still falls when the legs are gone. The handle that survives an actual defender.

Automatic takes weeks. It doesn't take luck, and it doesn't take being the tallest kid in the gym.

There's still runway. If your player wants to walk into tryouts ready instead of hopeful, this is the window that matters.

Association coaches: you've got twelve kids, one gym hour, and one of you.

You can run a good practice. What you can't do is watch one player's footwork on one rep and fix it before it becomes a habit. Nobody can, at that ratio.

That's the gap a team training block fills.

Your roster comes to our floor in Lakeville. Our coaches take positions and split them out β€” guards working guard things, bigs working big things. Shooting blocks run on Dr. Dish machines so nobody's standing in a rebound line. Everything at game speed, on pro-grade courts.

You still run your team. We just add the coaching hours you don't have.

Boys and girls, all age groups. Tell us your roster size and what you want fixed, and we'll build the block around it.

There's a difference between getting shots up and training.

Getting shots up is 200 attempts and a sore arm.

Training is 200 attempts where someone is watching your feet, your balance, and what your shoulder does on rep 180 when you're tired - and stopping you before the bad rep turns into the habit.

Position-specific skill development. Ball-handling. Game-speed reps on pro-grade courts.

Youth, middle school, high school, college. Same standard at every level.

School's about to start. Tryouts are closer than they feel.

The players who walk into November tryouts confident aren't the ones who got hot the last two weeks. They're the ones who've been in a gym all summer putting in unglamorous work.

There's still runway. If your player wants to walk in ready instead of hoping, now's the window.
