🦖 Mini Book Review 🦖
Fossil Feud by Maggie North
Ripley is a renegade paleontologist working in Montana trying to find the first bird-like fossil. She has spent the last few years in academic exile after her ex claimed she stole his work (quite the opposite) and now is working for private investors instead. When Oxford Professor James Smithson comes to her dig site, asking for her help proving that a new discovery is fake, she isn't sure she is qualified to help...until she learns the person who found it is her ex.
Now James is at her dig site, helping her crew finish their dig and talking to them about dinosaurs. When they aren't working, they are traveling to try to prove the fake, spending more and more alone time together. Ripley isn't ready to date another scientist...at least that's what she keeps telling herself.
I am loving the influx of STEM romances with female characters who work in interesting sciences. I enjoyed the overall plot of this story along with how Ripley and James work around their feelings for each other while trying to solve a "mystery".

✨️ Mini Book Review ✨️
Find My Way Down to You by Julian Winters
This book is a masterpiece of a young adult novel. It shows grief, loss and how non-linear the healing process can be.
It has been two years since August and his boyfriend London were in a car crash that took London's life. August has struggled to figure out his path since the loss, where to attend school and what he wants with the future. When he sees a mysterious boy in the restaurant he works in he can't help but get curious. But there is something off about the boy, how he appears and disappears and how when he's around someone always seems to die. When August follows the boy after another death he ends up in the Underworld, where suddenly things start to make sense. Determined to find London so he can apologize August starts to bend the rules for mortals in the Underworld while also starting to feel things for the mysterious Cary, a ferrier of the dead.
I adored this book. It was well written and had a powerful story while also dipping into mythology. The Hadestown vibes are definitely strong with this one.

🐨 Mini Book Review 🐨
Wild in Love by Nicole Cubba
Sofia Martinez is a hard worker, organized and ready to help when she takes a new job with creator Jett Parks. He is paying her a lot for her skills but also doesn't seem to have a formal job description anywhere. When he asks her to join her on a trip to Australia for a docuseries she isn't expecting to be fully part of the adventure. She also isn't expecting to be confused for being his girlfriend and entering a PR relationship to keep the fans engaged with the content. When their feelings for each other feel like more than a fake relationship...things start to get complicated. Now they are fighting their very real feelings while trying not to cross lines.
One of my favorite parts of this book was how the characters were written, they had similar backgrounds while also being very different. But those differences made them come together well. I also liked the backdrop of Australia and the overall adventure involved in the story.
