Patrick Hargon
An incredibly diverse musician & photographer, Patrick Hargon has a unique gift for embracing melody & melancholy.
Patrick Hargon has played with many bands, including several improv ensembles in the early 90's featuring restless North Louisiana musicians unencumbered by any particular tradition, including many proto-Elephant-6 musicians. He toured extensively with The Sunshine Fix, an E6 band, performing sound collages and live manipulations of instruments from speakers set up in the back corners of venues. In Athens, GA, he made several raw & energetic folk rock records with Don Chambers + Goat and toured internationally playing lead guitar for singing storyteller Jim White. He played baritone guitar and pedal steel in Eddymink (whose "Open Container Heart Surgery" LP was recently released), remotely collaborating with the brilliant Vincent Littlehat, and spelunking the depths of intramusical space opened by granular sample manipulation. Inside of every recorded sound, there are infinitely more sounds. "Thenland" is his first solo release, and his first foray into SPLICEROCK, the sound of sounds recombined. Patrick currently lives in Kearney, NE and has begun to show his photography in galleries and art spaces.

Today I'm prepping for next Saturday mid-day when I'll do a full set at Finsterfest, the outsider art and music festival held in Summerville Georgia. I go on at 1:30 pm on the Mosaic Stage and will be joined on bass by the legendary non-bassist, Pat Hargon.
Today I am not prepping to appear in the Big Ears Festival up in....Knoxville? So if you are attending the festival and go to see the Jim White Trio, please send my best regards to the OTHER Jim White, who makes a ephemeral appearance in my Magical Realism Memoir, Incidental Contact, which is available on my website at Jimwhitemusic.net. That Jim White is a drummer and plays in many bands, most notably the Dirty Three and Nick Cave's outfit.
For those of you asking about the availability of my new collection of short stories, Sometimes by the Sea, it will soon be added to my website for order. Sadly for those of you in overseas it'll be fairly expensive, as international shipping costs have gone cray-cray in the last few years.
