🌳 Tree roots causing problems? A problem root is only one part of a much bigger tree. Before you cut, dig, or remove the tree, check out our Myrtle Beach Tree Root Problem Checklist:
✓ Consider what’s being damaged
✓ Look at the root
✓ Check the distance from the trunk
✓ Look up
✓ Look at the entire tree
✓ Think about the long-term
✓ Check your HOA
✓ Get a professional evaluation first
Sometimes the tree can stay. Sometimes the surrounding hardscape can be modified. And sometimes the tree has simply outgrown its space.
The important thing is knowing which situation you’re dealing with before cutting a major root.

Large roots can damage your home and property. But they don’t just feed a tree. They also help support and anchor it. Cutting a significant root, especially close to the trunk, can damage the tree and potentially affect its stability.
So what should you do instead?
Our latest Myrtle Beach Homeowner’s Guide breaks down some of the most common questions we hear about problem tree roots:
✓ Can you safely cut a root that’s lifting a driveway?
✓ Can tree roots damage foundations?
✓ Why are roots growing above the ground?
✓ What about roots getting into sewer or septic lines?
✓ Can you repair a sidewalk or driveway and keep the tree?
✓ When does removing the tree make more sense?
Sometimes the tree can stay. Sometimes the surrounding hardscape can be modified. And sometimes a mature tree has simply outgrown the space where it was planted.
The important thing is figuring that out before major roots are cut.

🏠 Homeowners insurance renewal coming up? Add one more thing to your to-do list: Walk your property before your insurance company does.
✅ We created a Myrtle Beach Homeowner’s Insurance Renewal Checklist to help you spot some of the exterior property concerns worth addressing before renewal.
And yes, that includes your trees. 🌳
Branches touching the roof. Large limbs hanging over your home or garage. Deadwood above structures. Trees interfering with gutters or siding.
Our checklist helps Myrtle Beach homeowners take a fresh look at their property, identify potential concerns, and know what questions to ask if an insurance company flags a tree that may prevent your homeowners insurance from renewing.
👉 Read the blog and get the Myrtle Beach Homeowner’s Insurance Renewal Checklist under Tree Care Tips on HighTideTreeService.com. And if tree trimming or removal makes it onto your list, High Tide Tree Service can help.

👀 Your homeowners insurance renewal is coming up. When was the last time you looked at your house from the outside?
Not just at the roof. Look at the trees around it, too. Because sometimes, homeowners don't realize there's an issue until the insurance company points it out.
Before your next renewal, take a walk around your property and ask:
✓ Are any branches touching or rubbing against the roof?
✓ Are large limbs hanging directly over the house or garage?
✓ Is there dead or damaged wood above the structure?
✓ Are branches interfering with gutters or siding?
✓ Are there obvious tree hazards that should have been addressed already?
We put together a Myrtle Beach Homeowner's Insurance Renewal Checklist to help you know what to look for, what to do if your insurer flags a tree or other concern, and why you should always confirm your carrier's specific requirements before having any trees cut.

🏠🌳 Could the trees around your home affect your homeowners insurance renewal?
For some Myrtle Beach homeowners, the answer may be yes.
Insurance companies can consider the condition of your property when deciding whether it still meets their underwriting requirements. And branches that are touching your roof, hanging over your home, or creating an obvious hazard may get their attention.
The frustrating part? You may not realize there’s an issue until your insurer points it out.
Before your next renewal, take a walk around your property and look up:
🌳 Are branches touching or rubbing against your roof?
🌳 Are large limbs hanging directly over your home?
🌳 Is there dead or damaged wood above the structure?
🌳 Are branches interfering with gutters or siding?
🌳 Have your trees grown significantly since you last had them trimmed?
There is no universal South Carolina rule saying branches must be a specific number of feet from your roof. Insurance companies have their own underwriting requirements, so if you receive a notice, find out exactly what your carrier wants before having anything cut.
We break down what Myrtle Beach homeowners should know, what to check before an insurance inspection or renewal, and when professional trimming may be enough to address the problem.

Meet the Sweetgum tree. You probably recognize it by what it drops all over the yard.
Those spiky little “gumballs” are one of the tree’s most recognizable features, but there’s a lot more to this native South Carolina tree.
Sweetgums are fast-growing, hardy trees that are right at home in our coastal environment. Their star-shaped leaves provide great shade and some beautiful fall color, while their seeds provide food for birds and other wildlife.
But if you have one on your property, you likely know they can also come with a few challenges.
Those famous gumballs can become a mess around lawns, driveways, pools, and walkways. Mature Sweetgums can get BIG, and trees growing too close to homes or other structures need to be watched as they develop.
➡️ Swipe through our Sweetgum Tree Guide to learn:
• What makes the Sweetgum unique
• How to care for one properly
• What those “gumballs” actually are
• Signs your tree may need attention
• When trimming or professional tree care makes sense

🌴 Yellow, drooping fronds? A palm that just doesn’t look right?
Before you start cutting, fertilizing, or watering more, take a closer look.
Palm trees can tell you a lot about their health if you know what to watch for. And sometimes, the “fix” homeowners reach for first can actually make the problem worse:
🌴 A yellow frond doesn’t always need to be removed.
🌴 More fertilizer isn’t always the answer.
🌴 More water can be a problem, especially when drainage is poor.
🌴 Cutting off healthy green fronds doesn’t make a palm healthier or better prepared for a hurricane.
🌴 Changes in the newest growth can be more important than an old frond turning brown.
Palm trees are part of what makes the Myrtle Beach landscape feel like home. Knowing how to care for them properly can help keep them looking good for years to come.
We put together a Palm Tree Care Do’s & Don’ts Guide covering what to trim, what to leave alone, common warning signs, watering, fertilizer, storm care, and mistakes to avoid.
