šŸ“šMarvel has officially announced a new line of massive paperback collections called Marvel Brick, revealed today during New York Comic Con’s Retailer Day.

According to Bleeding Cool, the books are designed to be thick, oversized paperback collections similar in format to DC’s Compendium line, with the tagline ā€œBuild Your House Of Ideas Brick By Brick.ā€

The first four collections will include Uncanny X-Men: All-New, All-Different, Superior Spider-Man: Hero or Menace, Uncanny X-Force: The Apocalypse Solution, and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.

This gives Marvel fans another way to collect major runs without going the traditional hardcover Omnibus route.

Would you pick up any of these Marvel Brick collections?

šŸ”„A massive line has formed outside Midtown Comics Times Square ahead of tonight’s 5 PM signing celebrating the launch of Marvel’s new Midnight Universe.

Jonathan Hickman, Benjamin Percy and Phillip Kennedy Johnson will be signing copies of Midnight X-Men #1, Midnight Fantastic Four #1 and Midnight Spider-Man #1.

The three books all hit comic shops today, with Marvel revealing that they have already surpassed 1 MILLION combined orders ahead of launch.

And with the signing limited to the first 150 fans, people clearly aren’t taking any chances.

Would you wait in this line to meet Hickman, Percy and PKJ?

ā€œWhen Bleeding Hearts was first announced, I couldn’t have cared less about it. I am so zombied out that it’s not funny. I checked out the first issue anyway, because I checked out all the Vertigo titles, but it didn’t grab me. It wasn’t until I kept hearing the buzz for the title month after month that I came back and tried again. Once the human characters entered the scene in issue #2, it all changed. Now we had a zombie story that had a different perspective, a different way of looking at things. A zombie story that has real characters, that makes me feel. A zombie story that reminded me to never judge a book by its cover.ā€

šŸ‘€Ben Affleck has weighed in on an ongoing debate surrounding DC’s movie strategy: should its comic book films primarily target adults, or should they remain accessible to families and younger audiences?

Affleck, who played Batman in Batman v Superman, Justice League and The Flash, said:

ā€œIt seems to be an ongoing question, and I don’t know the answer: Do you go all the way to a hard-R rating like Joker? Or do it like Marvel, which does something broad, unless you’re talking about Deadpool & Wolverine?ā€

Affleck believes DC has an additional complication because of the influence of Frank Miller’s work, which helped establish a darker, more mature approach to Batman and other superhero storytelling.

ā€œThere seems to be more tension between, ā€˜Are we doing the grown-up version or the one that’s open to kids?’ There’s a risk of being a feathered fish.ā€

That tension has been visible throughout DC’s cinematic history, from R-rated films like Joker and The Su***de Squad to more broadly accessible movies like Superman.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran now shaping the DC Universe, the question of how broadly DC should appeal remains an interesting one.

Do you think DC should make its movies primarily for adults, or keep them accessible to families?

ā€œTo her utmost credit, however, Simone has managed to build these boxers into intriguing characters with distinct personalities. It’s easily the series’ strongest point, and what has kept this book standing rather than crumbling down in a heap of misery like Peter McNeeley. No cocoons were harmed in the making of this review.ā€

🚨 THIS ONE IS A BIG DEAL! 🚨

We’ve been lucky enough to talk to some amazing creators on Major Discourse, but sitting down with Geoff Johns was definitely a pinch-me moment for all of us at CBC. Geoff Johns has been behind SO many stories and characters we’ve loved over the years, and getting to hear him talk about his career, his creative process, and what he’s building now was an absolute blast.

We talk Ghost Machine, Geiger, Superboy-Prime, Hal Jordan, The Flash, and plenty of behind-the-scenes stories, and it felt like talking to an old friend. Go check it out and let us know your favorite Geoff Johns story in the comments!

ā€œAs for our new characters, they’re… certainly people with superpowers. And maybe semblances of personalities. I’m sure there are big plans for all of them, and they won’t just be immediately forgotten about. Wait, what were their names again?ā€
