“I have full coverage.”
It's one of the most common phrases in auto insurance.
But “full coverage” isn't the name of one specific coverage.
People often use the phrase when a policy includes liability along with comprehensive and collision coverage.
But two drivers who both say they have “full coverage” could have very different:
Liability limits.
Deductibles.
Uninsured motorist coverage.
Rental reimbursement.
Roadside assistance.
Instead of asking:
“Do I have full coverage?”
Ask:
“What exactly does my policy include?”

Sunshine Tip of the Week ☀️
New kitchen?
New flooring?
Addition?
Major renovation?
Pool?
Significant improvements can change what it may cost to rebuild your property.
Your insurance should reflect the house you're living in today, not necessarily the house that was originally quoted years ago.
Finished a major renovation recently?
Add “review my insurance” to the final project checklist.

The premium usually gets all the attention.
But several other numbers on your homeowners insurance policy may matter much more after a covered loss.
🏠 Dwelling coverage
🏚️ Other structures
🛋️ Personal property
🏨 Loss of use
🛡️ Liability
💰 Deductibles
A $200 difference in annual premium is easy to notice.
A major difference in coverage isn't always as obvious until you compare the policies side by side.

You bought a home for $600,000.
Does that automatically mean your dwelling coverage should also be $600,000?
No.
Market value and estimated reconstruction cost answer different questions.
Market value can reflect:
📍 Location
🌴 Land
📈 Real-estate demand
Dwelling coverage focuses on the estimated cost to rebuild the insured structure, subject to the policy.
Instead of asking why the numbers don't match, ask:
“How was my dwelling replacement cost calculated?”

One number Florida homeowners and condo owners should look for is any limit that applies to water damage.
Some policies may provide broader water coverage.
Others may have a specific limit, such as $10,000, or additional exclusions and restrictions.
Don't assume two insurance quotes provide the same protection simply because they're covering the same home.
Ask your agent:
“Is my water damage coverage limited, and if so, to how much?”
That's a better comparison than premium alone.

Your condo association sends every owner a special assessment.
Does loss assessment coverage automatically pay your share?
No.
Loss assessment coverage generally depends on why the assessment happened, the policy terms and whether the underlying loss qualifies for coverage.
Routine maintenance, reserves or every association repair don't automatically become insurance claims simply because owners receive an assessment.
So instead of only asking:
“Do I have loss assessment coverage?”
Ask:
“How much do I have, and when does it apply?”

"The condo association has insurance.”
That's true.
But it doesn't automatically mean everything inside your condo is the association's responsibility.
Florida condo owners should understand where the association's master policy ends and their individual HO-6 condo policy begins.
Your own policy may address things such as personal belongings, interior property, improvements, liability, additional living expenses and certain covered assessments depending on the policy and association documents.
Don't guess where the responsibility changes.
Know what the master policy covers—and what you're responsible for.
