Being a teenager today can feel like a lot. 💬🌱
Between academic pressure, social media, friendships, family expectations, and figuring out who they are, today’s young people are navigating a lot—and their mental health deserves our attention and support.
On International Youth Day, we’re reminded that supporting young people starts with creating spaces where they feel heard, understood, and connected. 💙
Here are a few ways to support the teens in your life:
👂 Listen without fixing: Sometimes they need someone to hear them—not immediately solve the problem.
💬 Make space for their feelings: A simple “That sounds really hard. I’m here for you” can go a long way.
🤝 Stay connected: Consistent, supportive relationships can help young people feel safe asking for help when they need it.
🔎 Know when to seek additional support: Ongoing changes in mood, withdrawal, anxiety, or difficulty functioning may be signs that additional support is needed.
At NJ4S COMPASS – Monmouth, we’re committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of young people across Monmouth County through prevention, early intervention, education, and connection to resources.
💙 Young people don’t have to navigate it alone—and neither do the adults supporting them.
📌 Save this post as a reminder to keep the conversation going.
