What that message actually means 👀
When you unbolt a MagneRide shock, you are not just removing a damper. You are opening a circuit that a computer is actively watching.
Every MagneRide shock (GM RPO Z95) has an electromagnetic coil inside it. The Suspension Control Module (SCM) sends current to that coil hundreds of times per second to change how stiff the damper is, and it measures what comes back. That feedback loop is how the truck knows the shock is alive.
Pull the shock and the SCM sees an open circuit. It sets a diagnostic trouble code (DTC), tells the instrument cluster to display "Service Suspension System", and drops you into a speed limiter, usually 80 mph.
Here is the part most people miss.
GM designed these modules to give up. Once the SCM decides the fault cannot be resolved, it stops broadcasting on the CAN bus and shuts itself down. That is why the dash message usually shows up once and then goes quiet. The module is not satisfied. It is asleep. The speed limiter stays.
That shutdown behavior is also why a partial fix can be worse than no fix. If a bypass talks to the SCM continuously but ignores the leveling system, and you removed the air shocks and compressor too, the leveling module never gets to finish its own shutdown. It keeps trying. You get "Service Leveling System" every drive, forever.
So the real question is not "does this delete the message." It is "which modules does this actually satisfy."
Our modules sit on the CAN bus and speak the language the vehicle expects. On some platforms that means acknowledging the missing shocks to the SCM so it never reports the fault. On others it means fully emulating the module that used to be there.
We will tell you straight which one your truck needs, and what it does and does not cover. We built the first OBD-based MagneRide delete module, and we are still building the most complete solution possible.
Our site has a vehicle search that points you to the right one. If you have questions, or don't see your MagneRide-equipped truck, SUV, or car, send us a message. We might have something in the works for you to test.

Calling all Central Florida Mustang GT owners! 👋
We're developing the VDM-E to support the S550 Mustang GT (2015-2023) [Including the Bullitt], and we need a local car to work with. Auto or manual is fine, but it needs to be equipped with MagnaRide suspension.
Have a manual GT? We're also exploring a way to simplify the Xineering Downshift Blip Module installation on the 15-23 range, too, so you could help us move two projects forward at once.
Based in the Greater Orlando area? Tag someone, comment, or DM us! If we end up working with you, your time will be compensated.

When your adaptive suspension fails, you deserve a solution built by the people who invented the OBD bypass, not a copy. ShockSims powered by Xineering designs, builds, and tests the original OBD modules used to safely bypass GM MagneRide and Adaptive Ride Control (ARC). We are proudly designed and built in the USA, and our engineering is guided by a single principle: do right by the customer.
We Invented the OBD Module and We Keep Improving It!
Being the original creator matters. Our team solved the real-world problem of intermittent suspension faults and limp-mode by developing an OBD-based solution that communicates with the vehicle’s Suspension Control Module (SCM). Because we built the first working system, we understand the edge cases, the DTC logic, and the real installation scenarios shops and DIYers face. That experience translates to safer, more reliable products for you.
