“LA TIERRA” through the lens of Nate Haile 🌱

Captured just moments before a late afternoon storm in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, in January 2025, this piece beautifully illustrates the land coming alive. It evokes an indescribable sense of protection that flows from the coastline deep into the mountains. Standing in awe between Yemaya’s ocean and Ochún’s rivers, one can truly appreciate the spirit of the land.

This photograph is part of a larger collection of analog images and short films by Nate Haile and Emily Reyes, titled “May We Always Remember / May We Never Forget (Que Siempre Recordemos / Que Nunca Olvidemos).”

The HOME ECONOMICS EXPERIMENT is a project based in Japan that began in 2020. It was inspired by the importance of personal living spaces during the pandemic. This initiative explores new possibilities for living environments by blending home economics with innovative production techniques, all while emphasizing sustainability. It offers unique items that add value by repurposing discarded materials and used furniture, as well as by crafting distinctive everyday products from original fabrics.

Tomorrow 7/11 at the shop: HHH Radio x Them Local are joining forces for a fundraiser in support of 4 The Homies 🌀 We’re excited to welcome low iron - a Philly native, DJ, and 1/3 of the iconic Bass Down Low crew!!

As a beloved member of the community, low iron brings soul, humor, and charm to the decks, taking us on a journey that transcends genres and fosters togetherness, inviting everyone to connect and dance along.

KBJD - “No Results Found” 

KBJD creates music in Philadelphia using a drum machine and a Juno synth. They’re set to debut a few songs this Saturday, July 11th, at the shop. What can you expect? Well, it’s a mystery! It will consist of a shadow-jamming performative moment 😶‍🌫️🌀

Come hang and arrive early to catch V/Виня as they kick things off with their interpretation, and don’t miss Philly’s own low iron , who will bring soul, humor, and charm to the decks.

Inspired by Slavic witch folklore, they create ethereal ambient sounds while challenging patriarchal norms. Vinectomy’s recent single “Yalublujivo” explores Slavic ho******ic themes and was part of a fundraiser with Subzero PHL. They’ve also recently launched Pneuma: The Vital Force, a community-focused event in Philadelphia. Check V out!

July 7th!! We’re excited to team up with our friends at HHH Radio for another hangout at the shop! 🌱

Homies Helping Homies (HHH) has been making a positive impact in the community since 2020, serving Point Breeze and beyond. They began by distributing medical supplies to those marching for BLM and have since expanded their efforts to include food distribution, hygiene products, and art-making projects. 4 The Homies promotes community self-sufficiency and views access to food and education as essential to violence prevention.

HHH RADIO is a media brand subset of Homies Helping Homies, that platforms local musicians weekly on WPEB 88.1 FM 🔉 They champion Philadelphia underground artists and their peers through intentional curation, interviews and archiving. HHH also offers programs such as Free Community Photo Days and the HHH Garage, which serves as a DIY art gallery for all.

We can’t wait to see V/Виня , low iron , and HHH’s KBJD perform live and make their debut!

Contributions are welcome as we aim to raise funds for the HHH cause. There will be a QR code on-site for donations, or you can contribute online at www.homieshelpinghomies.com.

As always FORÎN will be mixing up some great drinks, and Calle Del Sabor will be outside to keep the energy going! 🌀
