PLEASE SHARE AND SUPPORT MY MOTHER

Harlem’s 57th Annual African American Day Parade celebrated Black culture, achievement, and entrepreneurship in New York City. This year’s theme, “Good Businesses Sustain Our Future,” put a special spotlight on Black business owners and the role they play in strengthening communities and creating economic opportunities.

Thousands gathered along Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard for the historic celebration, which featured marching bands, community organizations, performers, and local leaders. FUBU co-founder J. Alexander Martin was among the grand marshals, while Grambling State University’s Tiger Marching Band was among the featured participants.

The African American Day Parade has been a Harlem tradition for more than five decades, celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans. By centering this year’s event on entrepreneurship, organizers highlighted an important message: supporting Black-owned businesses can help create jobs, circulate dollars within communities, and build generational wealth.

She’s following in her mom’s footsteps!

Racquel McCray grew up watching both of her parents serve in the U.S. Navy, and at 18, she decided to follow the same path.

After joining the Navy and choosing the same logistics specialty as her mom, Tonya McCray, Racquel got the special opportunity to serve aboard the same ship with her.

✊🏾 “Community leaders and activists gathered Tuesday morning at the house on the Road of Remembrance, where the body of Tasia Fortune, a Black woman, was found hanging from a tree in the backyard. The event issued a challenge for Black men to pledge unity in brotherhood, stand up for each other and hold each other accountable. Organizers said the effort is aimed at preventing incidents like the hanging and the Nolan Wells case. One Louisiana activist shared why he is participating. “So, we are asking that the brothers unite all over America to help enforce that our brothers and sisters can live a safe life in this country without the threat of being lynched in 2026,” he said. The event was presented by Too Blakk Too Strong Media-Kompany, Councilman Kenneth Stokes and the Aziatikk Blakk Academy Institution.” (via WLBT 3) 👏🏾🤎 #blacklivesmatter #blackmenlead #jacksonmississippi #nolanwells #fedup
