How’s back to school going for everyone?
Hopefully, this is the vibe you’re going for AND getting— regardless of whether you’re in the arts or learning HVAC (which is, in its own right, an art form) 🤗

For this week’s , we’re highlighting a forthcoming installation by one of this century’s most impactful artists.
The artist is Maya Lin, the architect and artist whose most memorable works include the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, and the Civil Rights Memorial in Alabama. Lin will be debuting her latest installation at UT Austin in April of 2027. As with all of her works, it seamlessly integrates complex architectural elements and artistry.
Built seamlessly into its landscape, “Floating Landscape”— which was funded by the university’s public art fund, Landmark—will sprawl across a 3,600-square-foot meadow. It will include areas for students and campus visitors to sit and enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna, making it not only a unique installation, but an immersive one. “Floating Landscape” will also light up at night, with a built-in constellation pattern of LEDs designed to mirror the sky on the night of the university’s founding.
We’re big fans of , and university campuses are no exception! We can’t wait to see its debut.

So long to the Dog Days of Summer, but hello to the second day of this week's Dogs in Art installation. Each day this week, we'll be sharing a special pup from art—both modern and historical—that captures everything we love about our four-legged friends!
Growing up in a rural, secluded prefecture of Japan, Yashimoto Nara spent a lot of time by himself, cooped up inside (this region is known for their especially long winters) with a comic book, his record player, and, of course, his dog. For this reason, he came to find that it was far easier to communicate with animals than with other human beings, a fact that rang especially true when he went off to school in Germany (where he did not speak the language).
In turn, dogs became central to Nara's artwork— perhaps his most famous piece, "Your Dog" (2002), is a giant white fiberglass dog, a larger-than-life pup that, in spite of its size, has a warm and inviting disposition.
From his children's book "A Dog Who Wanted A Friend" (1999), wherein a massive dog finds companionship with a young girl who climbs up his back, the artwork featured is one of many where dogs take the main stage in Yoshimoto Nara's work.

Tomorrow marks the last of the Dog Days of Summer, at to celebrate, we're posting a piece of featuring our favorite canine companions every day this week!
Dogs have been loved and cherished since the dawn of mankind; and their representation in art and culture is evidence of the admiration we hold for our pups. Dating back to somewhere between the first and third centuries CE, this statue was crafted by the indigenous Colima people of what is now considered northwestern Mexico. While dogs were among the many creatures forged from clay and stone by the Colima people, there's something about the bright-eyed smile of this little guy that makes you think dogs held a special place in their hearts.
Colima, dog, c. 100–300 CE, clay. Collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

In this week’s , there’s a new Guggenheim officially set in motion, though the location is causing quite a stir.
While protestors have fought over Guggenheim’s newest location in Abu Dhabi, its opening date is officially set for December 11 of this year. For over 16 years, the Gulf Labor Coalition (GLC)— an arts labor activist group— has protested the opening of this museum, citing issues of abuse allegations and violations of international labor laws.
In spite of this, the museum has pushed forward with its debut, and it will officially open. None of the issues presented in the activists’ initial protests have been resolved or addressed.

Have you heard of Philadelphia photographer Zoe Strauss?
Born and based in Philadelphia, Strauss is a world-renowned photographer whose work often captures disenfranchised people and places in an honest but artful light. With themes of poverty, class, addiction, and identity, Strauss showcases the beauty of those so often left out, too often forgotten, and more often than not overlooked in art and photography.
As a Philadelphia-based small business, we’re proud to call this city, and all its residents, our community, and Strauss’s work does an incredible job of reminding us exactly why it’s such a beautiful, diverse place to be.
