7 YEARS WITHOUT MR. HENRI BELOLO:

IN MEMORIAM: HENRI BELOLO (November 27, 1936 - August 3, 2019) (82)

HENRI BELOLO was a French music producer active during the disco era. Together with his friend composer Jacques Morali, he created The Ritchie Family first as well as their most successful group The Village People.
In 1975 Belolo agreed to finance a long-running residency for Morali at Sigma Sound Studios after Morali got the idea of releasing "Brazil" as a Disco song.
He was one half of Can't Stop Productions, Inc. alongside Morali. He was not a primary songwriter, rather he would occasionally write French-language lyrics for some songs, and afterwards, they would be translated.

Henri Belolo was often credited as a composer but his role was not clear. He told once in an interview he had French lyrics for a song and had others translated them and rework his ideas.
Belolo was born in Casablanca, Morocco. He continued to work in France as a music producer on his own label Scorpio Music producing many international stars like the late Eartha Kitt, Patrick Juvet and Gloria Gaynor a.o.

He is survived by his two sons Anthony and Jonathan.

And we thank here Mr. Belolo for the splendid music he created together with the late Jacques Morali. The music which will live on for many decades to come.

Today we remember here the life and legacy of Original Ritchie Family Member (1976 - 1978) Gwendolyn, who sadly passed away at November 27, 2020 (71).

Born on July 21, 1949, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Margret Brogdon.
On Friday, November 27, 2020, Gwendolyn Gardenia Oliver Wesley, wife of Fredric Alonzo Wesley, Jr. "Fred", heard her Master's call at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

JULY 4, 2026, REMEMBRANCE BIRTHDAY - JACQUES MORALI:
Today we remember the life of the late Jacques Morali, who was born on July 4, 1947. In 1975 he created The Ritchie Family and a year later The Village People. He sadly passed away at a much too early age on November 15, 1991.
