No, we shouldn't.

"Trans" is an adjective—just like cis, tall, gay, or left-handed. It describes a person's experience; it doesn't change what they are.

A trans man is a man. A trans woman is a woman.

The word trans isn't there to say they aren't men or women. It's there to distinguish them from cisgender (cis) men and women when that distinction is relevant—just like we say adoptive parent, stepbrother, or Canadian citizen versus American citizen when context matters.

It's really not a difficult concept. The only people pretending it's confusing are usually the ones who've already decided not to understand it. The rest of us learned how adjectives work back in elementary school. 🙂
