Easy like Sunday morning.

Did a thing last Saturday.

Running a marathon has been something I really wanted to do in honor of my dad who used to run them. Even though the course had miserable hills (and we did it all twice since it was a loop) it was absolutely beautiful, which is why I chose it.

I definitely felt my dad’s presence and him pushing me to keep going… I cried tears of happiness at the 25 mile mark, knowing how proud he was and that he was right there with me.

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.”
-Anne Bradstreet

I love all the seasons. Each one makes me happy in a different way and ties to different holidays and fun memories and things to do. But there is just something so special about spring.

Every single year as leaves fill the empty branches and the landscape turn back to green it feels so much brighter and greener than I remembered. It feels likes such a gift. (I know that’s corny, but I don’t care)

I love natural sunlight in my house. That and some simple greens in a vase, combined with texture, wood tones, and candles. It feels warm and invited and “homey”. This is a coffee table I did for a client- it’s simple and casual, and I’m really feeling the spring vibes and loving it.

This gallery wall of photos makes me happy. Every single photo reminds me of the place and time that that specific memory was made and the joy that was felt in that moment.

I don’t remember the details about the photo like if the kids were being good listeners that day or if they cooperated when it was time to get dressed. I have no idea if my kitchen was clean or if my sink was full of dirty dishes . I don’t remember any of those details. Because while those things are important, they don’t truly matter in the grand scheme of things.

At the end of the day it all comes down to the fact that we have a finite amount of time on this earth, and the way we spend that time is a daily choice we make. We can decide to find as much joy as possible and live to our fullest potential, or we can choose to put our energy into negativity and be miserable because life is hard. And life is hard, that’s for sure.

I don’t know about you, but I choose to find joy. I choose to be happy and I choose love, lots of love. And… I choose to pray… a lot. And I choose to share God’s love openly to everyone.

Sometimes I just want to share what’s in my heart, and today, my heart is full. I feel so much joy despite everything going on in my life and I have so much hope and a peacefulness in my soul. And this is a place I never ever could be in without prayer and my Heavenly Father’s love. So how could I not share?

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

I actually love small and dingy old bathrooms- they’re easy fixes and their renovations make such a big difference in how inviting a home feels.

In this 1/2 bath, we changed every single thing. We swapped out the pedestal vanity for one with storage and a little more style, and then hung a new, larger mirror above it. We went with black hardware for the faucet, handles, and towel ring, and then matched the lighting with a black farmhouse style light above it. Vertical shiplap was installed to add a little texture and then one large, but simple piece of art was hung, keeping things clean and minimal. The blonde floors and the light oak frame surrounding the art warm up the room just enough along with a basket and a sweet little faux lamb’s ear plant. It truly is all in the details… the right details.

The kids went back to school Monday. Can you tell?

This upholstered/noodle/rainbow accent wall is about 6 months overdue…. and Macey has reminded me every single time she’s upset about something else. “WHEN are you going to do my rainbow wall?!” (WHY did I tell her about the rainbow wall, whyyyy)

Anyway, my goal is to get it done as fast as I can so I can take away her leverage. (Evil laughter.)

Anyone else getting back to projects you had to put on hold during your busy summer? My list of things feels pretty much endless.
