The Local started in October 2014 as @EastFallsLocal, a page for photos & items of interest specific to a small neighborhood in NW Philly where we live. In 2019, we changed our name to "The Local" when we branched out to Germantown & other surrounding communities. By 2021 we had teamed up with WHYY's News & Information Community Exchange program, and then in 2022, we began publishing with
