A few spaces are opening at Balanced Life Movement. 🌿
We currently have room for 2 new individual therapy clients, as well as openings in our Grief Support Group.
Our practice is rooted in the belief that healing often asks us to go deeper than words alone.
At Balanced Life Movement, our foundation is somatic and movement-based therapy. We work with the patterns held not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies, nervous systems, and relationships.
Our therapists work deeply with attachment, mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, grief, and neurodivergence through an integrative approach that meets each person where they are.
Depending on what you need, therapy may incorporate specialized approaches including EMDR, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), DBT, expressive arts, mindfulness, and nervous-system regulation.
But underneath all of the modalities is something simpler:
We want therapy to be a nurturing space where you can safely look deeply within.
A place to become curious about the parts of yourself you've learned to criticize, hide, or push away.
A place to soften the inner critic.
To understand old patterns with compassion rather than judgment.
And ultimately, to create more space for your authentic self to emerge. 🌿

The leaves weren't trying to be beautiful. They were simply responding to the wind.
The river rushing... hush.
Attune.
A few quiet moments. Moving with the shadows.
Listening instead of directing.
Sometimes healing begins not with words, but with remembering that we, too, are part of nature.
What has nature been teaching you lately?

I arrived in Costa Rica carrying one simple intention:
Trust.
Trust my body.
Trust the unknown.
Trust the unfolding of each day.
During this same week, I had the honor of co-leading a professional workshop exploring space — the spaces we inhabit, the spaces we create, and the ways our environments shape our nervous systems, movement, emotions, and sense of possibility.
And then Costa Rica became my greatest teacher.
I felt the difference in my own body.
Waking with the sunrise. (Am I really a "morning-person" now?!)
Moving with the heat.
Listening to the rain arrive and pass.
Watching the rhythm of the tides.
Feeling held by the ocean, trees, wildlife, and open sky.
I noticed less anxiety. More presence. More connection.
I practiced meeting discomfort — heights, heat, uncertainty, and letting go of needing every detail planned.
I danced.
I explored.
I adapted.
I followed curiosity.
Nature reminds us that we are not separate from our environments — we are always in relationship with them.
Sometimes healing is not about controlling every variable around us, but creating enough trust within ourselves to move with what unfolds.
A practice in presence.
A practice in connection.
A practice in Pura Vida 🦋🌿

2025, what a year. ✨
This year held deep sessions, momentum in community, time outside, movement that soothed the nervous system, and unforgettable moments with friends — including a snowy, rejuvenating Kripalu retreat with my oldest friend Laura and our favorite therapist ~ colleague ~ friend, Joy Ruben Welts. We learned, we moved, we sat with tea, and we remembered again how healing is 💖relational.
I’m so grateful for the people who showed up — in sessions, in community, in care, in laughter. 🤍
If you’re pausing at the end of the year — here are three simple questions that helped me reflect:
🌱 Looking Back
What supported you this year — where were you rooted, where did healing flow through you?
🌬️ Being Present
What are you noticing now — in your breath, your body, your small daily moments?
🔥 Looking Ahead
What quality do you want to tend in the year to come — courage, curiosity, ease, rest?
Take a moment with them — journal, walk, breathe. You can explore more on these prompts here: balancedlifemovement.com 🌿
Here’s to tending what matters, together.

A Weekend of Remembering What Matters
This weekend I am spending nearly all my time outside — biking along quiet roads, kayaking on still water, hiking until my legs ache, and napping beneath a tree with the wind moving softly through the leaves.
No screens. No schedule. Just being. A tiny hamlet in the Adirondacks calling me outside to explore.
Something happens when we step away from our phones and back into the rhythms of the natural world. Our senses start to open again — the light looks different, colors feel more alive, and the mind finally stops trying to fix or analyze.
Out here, I could feel my nervous system exhale. The simplicity of movement, sunlight, and fresh air is medicine. It reminds me how healing can be found in what’s already here — in the body, in the breeze, in the sound of water touching shore.
If you’ve been overwhelmed or disconnected lately: Leave your phone behind for a few hours (or all day), go outside, and let yourself be moved by the beauty that’s always waiting.
Your body will remember how to breathe again.

🌞 At Balanced Life Movement, we help people reconnect to this sense of presence through somatic and creative arts therapy — because nature and the body are our first healers.

Fall invites change — but with change often comes stress. 🍁 Our bodies can feel the shift in daylight, schedules, and energy. If you’ve been feeling tense, scattered, or heavy lately, you’re not alone.
Here are a few ways to regulate and ground yourself this season:
✨ Shake it out: Stand, soften your knees, and gently shake your arms, legs, and shoulders for 1–2 minutes. This signals safety to your nervous system and discharges stored tension.
✨ Breath + sound: Place your hands on your ribs and take three slow, wide breaths. Exhale with a gentle hum or sigh to release stuck energy.
✨ Create with what’s around you: Collect leaves, acorns, or fall colors and make a mini “nature altar” in your space — a visual reminder to slow down and honor the season.
✨ Dance or sway: Put on a song that matches your mood and let your body move freely, even for a minute. Movement helps process emotions when words aren’t enough.
🍂 If stress feels like it’s living in your body this fall, therapy can help you find your rhythm again.
At Balanced Life Movement, we offer Somatic and Creative Arts Therapy to help you move through change with support.
📩 DM us or click the link in bio to schedule a session — let’s help your nervous system settle into this season.
