Helping adults and children improve breathing, oral function and overall health through personalized Myofunctional therapy~Virtual and In person sessions available
Be honest… were your teeth touching before I said anything?
Your jaw shouldn’t feel like it worked an overnight shift. 😬
Sometimes the problem isn’t how long you slept—it’s what happened during those hours. If you wake up tired more often than not, comment “TIRED” below. I want to see how many of you are experiencing this.
The tongue should be moving independently without other muscles compensating
📚 Parents, save this list!
If you’re trying to better understand your child’s breathing, sleep, oral function, jaw development, or airway, these are some of the books I recommend as a starting point.
You don’t have to become an airway expert overnight.
Sometimes the first step is simply learning what to look for and knowing what questions to ask.

Watch your child swallow.
Do their lips squeeze together?
Does their chin tighten?
Does their head move?
Or does their tongue do the work?
A mature swallow should be coordinated—not a whole-face effort.
🍂 Happy First Day of Fall! 🍂
A new season is a great reminder that small changes can make a big difference.
As we head into fall, pay attention to the little things happening every day:
👅 Where is your tongue resting?
👄 Are your lips comfortably closed at rest?
👃 Are you breathing through your nose?
😴 Are you sleeping peacefully or waking tired, congested, or with your mouth open?
🦷 Are you noticing grinding, clenching, or changes in your bite?
These everyday patterns matter because the way we breathe, rest, chew, and swallow can influence how the muscles of the mouth and face function.
At OptimalMyoFunction, I help children and adults improve these patterns through individualized myofunctional therapy.
🍁 New season. New habits. Better function.
Most parents are aware that mouth breathing will affect their child’s sleep. Did you know it can also affect their facial growth?
Don’t just assume your child is picky. Sometimes they are struggling with coordination of the tongue, lips, cheeks and picky eating is just the outcome of the muscle dysfunction. Have questions? Book a free call
