Had the honor of meeting the founders of Timeless records Wim and Ria Wigt who originally released the Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers album “Reflections in Blue” …we sampled a song called “stretchin” from that album which became our song “Rebirth of Slick(cool like dat)”

In 1975 Wim and Ria Wigt founded the record label Timeless Records with ‘Eastern Rebellion’ by Cedar Walton as its first release. The album would be an instant success, with many international jazz critics claiming that it was one of the best bebop albums of the seventies. The album ‘Machito and his Salsa Big Band 1982’ by Machito would go and win the a Grammy Award in the category ‘Best Latin Recording’ in 1983. The current Timeless catalogue holds around 850 albums, incl recordings of jazz giants such as Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Archie Shepp, Art Blakey, McCoy Tyner, Tommy Flanagan, Lionel Hampton, Pharoah Sanders, Jaco Pastorius and Chris Barber. In cooperation with the latter trombone legend, Wim started the series the Chris Barber Collection (CBC or Timeless Historical) in 1991. This would include remastered reissues of recordings by Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Bing Crosby, Coleman Hawkins, Ethel Waters, Hoagy Carmichael, Sidney Bechet, the Dorsey Brothers and many others.
