From LA kitchens to our own, the journey has been long, but every step was worth it. 💙

We have some incrEDibly emotional news to share with you all today. After everything our family has been through, I've advanced to the Top 15 in the Super Dad contest (currently sitting in 6th place!), and Emma Bites has made it to the Top 20 in Stan Lee's Super Kid contest! 😭🎉

Six back surgeries changed everything for our family, but it also opened the door to something beautiful. Creating my family-friendly cooking show together has been the greatest adventure of my life. Seeing Emma's strength and kindness shine through every day, always ready to save the day when I need a hand, is what keeps me going. 💖

To everyone who has voted, shared, and cheered us on: THANK YOU. There are truly no words to express what your love and support mean to us. We would not be here without you, and we are so proud to be sharing this moment with you.

But the journey isn't over yet! We're asking for your help to keep this momentum going for both "Super Dad" and "Super Kid." Every single vote moves us one step closer to making this dream a reality.

I drew this piece because, if I’m being completely real, there are moments when life makes you feel utterly stuck.

Trapped.

Things completely outside of our control have a way of knocking us off our path, forcing us to navigate dark, unexpected detours just to find a sense of safety. It’s so easy to fall into that hypnotic, paralyzed state—like that underlying weight in System of a Down’s Hypnotize, where the world spins out into chaos around you and tries to make you feel powerless, small, or numb.

Putting pen to paper was my way of taking the wheel back. The monsters outside the window might be real, but so is our ability to steer through them. We can sit in the driver's seat holding our breath, waiting for the shadows to pass. Or we can smile back at the madness, look the darkness dead in the eye, and defy it.

It all comes down to a choice: live in fear, or put your foot on the gas and drive right through it. Everything in its place, Chef. I love you.

Looking back on this special moment at South Mountain Community College’s Storyteller’s Event, my heart is so full.

Standing on that stage and getting to share my journey—from the grueling days in culinary school to surviving six back surgeries, and ultimately finding my true purpose through cooking with my family—was an experience I will never forget.

Mise en Place: In the kitchen, mise en place means setting everything in its place before you start. Life has a way of throwing unexpected ingredients and challenges at us, but taking stock of where you are and what you have can turn any obstacle into something beautiful.

Family & Inspiration: My amazing wife, Mickey, and our daughter, Emma, have been my ultimate rocks. Watching Emma grow, adapt, and dust herself off with such grace inspired me to Keep Moving Forward when things felt impossible. She inspired the very first episode of Edible Ed's, and teaching her—and all my Lil' Chefs—reminds me every day why food is so powerful.

The Secret Ingredient: Food feeds the body, but cooking with love feeds the soul. No matter what you’re facing, lay out your ingredients, take stock of what you have, and make something wonderful. I believe in you! ❤️✨

Thank you to everyone who listened, supported, and continues to Spread Love Like Butter! I love you.

Sometimes I look at this illustration and it hits a profound nerve. It feels as if a persistent audience is always demanding our best performance, shaping our moves to fit their narrative. There are days when the weight of the universe, and the silent expectations of everyone around us, pull at our strings. We are urged to act, react, and exist in ways that just aren't us.

But there is an alternative. It’s that rare, beautiful freedom of just letting go. Of finding that singular, unadulterated passion—whether it’s ink on paper, cooking, or anything that makes your heart race—and allowing it to define you. It is the courageous act of snipping the strings and declaring: I will not be puppeted.

Let’s find our true selves outside of the performance. Let’s find what makes us feel most alive and just be. Everything in its place, Chef. I love you.

Tonight, our kitchen was filled with love, memory, and a quiet sense of comfort. 🤍

Emma Bites and I stepped up to the stove together to cook a meal that holds a deeply special place in our hearts: Edible Ed’s Guyanese Chicken & Potato Curry, paired with crisp Samosas on the side.

Cooking alongside Emma while passing down these cherished flavors felt like the most meaningful way to keep her spirit alive in our home. Every stir of the pot was a tribute, and every spice carried a memory. We made this plate of love in honor and loving memory of our sweet Aunty Raj.

Food has a quiet, beautiful way of keeping us connected to those we hold dear, bridging the distance between past and present. Aunty Raj, this one was made with all our love, from our family to your memory. We miss you every single day, but we carry your light, your warmth, and your love in every bite. Rest in paradise. I love you. 🕊️✨

Food is so much more than just sustenance—it’s memory, story, and a bridge to our heritage. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we wanted to step into the kitchen with hearts full of love and try something brand new to our home.

Inspired by one of our absolute favorite local taco spots in Phoenix—a place that instantly transports you back to the vibrant streets of Tijuana with every bite—we decided to recreate a dessert that captured our hearts: Carlota de Limón!

Even though this isn't a recipe passed down through our own family generations, creating it together felt like honoring the shared sweetness of culture, community, and togetherness. Layering those creamy, citrusy flavors with loved ones reminded us that traditions aren't just found; they can be freshly made right in our own kitchens with the people we treasure most. 💛✨

Cooking has a way of holding up a mirror to where we are, even when we aren't quite ready to look.

Watching these curried beef cubes hit the pan, sizzle, and slowly sear...it feels a lot like how life has felt lately. High heat, deep transformation, and a process you can’t rush no matter how much you want to.

Lately, I’ve been sitting with some heavy emotions. I’ve found myself showing up completely—being more than present, offering my heart and my full energy—only to realize that depth wasn't reciprocated. My heart hurts today. I genuinely thought things were different, but the reality is they are different, just not in the way I had hoped or prayed for.

It’s hard. There are moments—more frequent now than they’ve ever been—where the weight feels heavy enough that I just want to give up.

But if there is any consolation I can hold onto, it’s this: I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I went far beyond my duty. I gave my absolute best, even when it wasn't matched. I can be proud of the heart I brought to the table.

So I keep stirring the pot. I keep standing at the stove. I will continue to do my best with my best—because that is who I am, regardless of how the landscape changes around me.

To anyone else carrying a silent weight today: Keep Moving Forward. Your effort, your love, and your depth are never wasted. Everything in its place, Chef. I love you. 💛
