¡Mes de la Hispanidad!

¡Palabras agregadas al Diccionario Merriam-Webster Dictionary!

If you find yourself frequently tilting your head in confusion at what the teens and preteens in your life are saying, Merriam-Webster has your back. The dictionary recently added 1,400 new terms and definitions, “offering a window into the world today,” per a Tuesday announcement from Nice News’ sister company.

Among the latest additions are terms popularized by Gen Z and Gen Alpha, like “crashout,” describing an emotional breakdown, and “parasocial,” a one-way relationship in which someone feels connected to someone they do not know (like a celebrity or influencer). Other sweet standouts include “cake pop,” the treat found in many bakery cases, and “promposal,” a fancy word for inviting someone to prom.

“The English language is changing rapidly,” said Merriam-Webster President Gregory Barlow, adding, “Millions of people come to us for guidance, and we’re pleased that these new entries help all of us understand each other a little better.” Check out more of the definitions: https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/new-words-in-the-dictionary
