The Flinn Scholarship: One of the most prestigious scholarships in the nation for undergraduate study
This year, 20 of Arizona’s highest-achieving students will become Flinn Scholars, receiving an unparalleled package for undergraduate study that encompasses:
* tuition and room and board;
* funding for study abroad;
* opportunity to intern with an exciting Arizona company or organization;
* mentorship from brilliant faculty; and
* fellowship in an extraordinary community of current and alumni Scholars. The program, in partnership with Arizona’s three state universities, provides enriched educational offerings that expand Scholars’ life and career options and create the kind of stimulating, intellectually challenging environment that students might find at the nation’s most selective colleges. Total dollar value, including the cash value of tuition provided by the universities, exceeds $115,000. We believe, though, that the non-monetary benefits of becoming a Flinn Scholar are much, much more valuable.

2019 Flinn Scholar Jordan Harb's engagement with his class didn't end with graduation. From Bangkok reunions to campaign trails to career-advice calls, the Flinn Scholars community kept showing up no matter where he was. Even as a recent Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University, there was a serendipitous meeting with Chad Futrell, the former organizer of the Flinn China trip, now assistant dean of the college.
In the latest Alumni Voices Q&A, Jordan shares about his time in Beijing and rural China, how diverse interests enhance his development, and the impact of being a Flinn Scholar.

As the only Flinn Scholar alumnus elected to the Flinn Foundation Board of Directors, Shaun Kirkpatrick joins fellow Class of 1987 alumna, Sara Zervos Knutson, in this special 2026-27 Alumni Hour kickoff.
After earning a dual major in Economics and Ecology/Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona, Shaun received his Master of Arts in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
With more than 25 years of experience managing venture investments and technology development programs across biotechnological fields, Shaun currently oversees venture investments, technology development programs, and special licensing programs in therapeutics, life science tools, and diagnostics at Research Corporation Technologies.

The 2026 ASU Centennial Lecture features bestselling author and biographer Walter Isaacson in conversation with ASU President Michael M. Crow. They'll dive deep into Isaacson’s book, “The Greatest Sentence Ever Written” about the defining line in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..."
The Centennial Lecture began in 1985 with a gift from the Flinn Foundation to commemorate ASU's 100th anniversary. 🏛️

🎓The merit-based Flinn Scholarship provides a full ride to an Arizona public university for 20 Arizona high-school graduates each year. The application deadline for the Class of 2027 is Tuesday, Oct. 13.
