🚨 “It’s just a little cracked foam… is it really that big of a deal?”

Sometimes, yes. It absolutely can be.

Not every crack, broken piece, or damaged component automatically means your entire car seat needs to be replaced. But sometimes it does. Even something that looks as simple as cracked or broken foam can affect whether the seat can safely continue to be used.

And that’s the tricky part: you can’t always tell just by looking at it.

It can be really tempting to think, “It’s only foam. The rest of the seat looks fine. I’ll deal with it later.” Unfortunately, some of these pieces are an important part of how the seat is designed to protect your child, so damage shouldn’t be ignored or DIY repaired.

If ANY part of your car seat cracks, breaks, comes loose, or falls off, contact the manufacturer. Send them photos, provide your model information, and let them tell you whether the part can be replaced or whether the entire seat needs to be retired.

Sometimes the answer will be, “No big deal, we can send you a replacement part.”

And sometimes it’ll be, “I have bad news… it’s time for a new seat.” 😬
